Bidra med feedbackWe drove past this place a few times before i ventured in for a cappuccino, which was a revelation- one of the best one i'd had in the region. Then we tried the gelato, expecting little since the pistachio had frost flakes on it. But the chocolate and other popular flavors were very good, although the gelato is not homemade. We have eaten a lot of gelato in Italy and this is good gelato. Then, we ate dinner here one night. The restaurant is tucked down below, a surprisingly large room given the sleepy nature of the upstairs bar. Pizzas are made to order in the pizza oven. They ranged from average to very good (quattro formaggio). Dining options are limited if you are staying near Penna; this is a good spot to grab a bite to eat. If you plan ahead you can reserve one of the few tables on the scenic side terrace, planted with pretty geranium pots.
We've been coming to this place for years and it's always excellent. We usually have a family dinner here for our first night in the area and then return on our last night for takeaway pizzas before we head home. The service is great, the views are sensational and it has a very friendly menu for children and adults alike. Highlights are truffle pasta, white pizza with sausage and zourgette, ascoli olives and much more.
My family and I are delighted that Bar Porta Marina and its restaurant, Vecchi Sapori is the nearest watering-hole to our Italian home. At lunchtime, Adele is in the kitchen turning out delicious pasta dishes, meat cooked to you preference and, in our view, perfectly dressed salads. In itself, that would be enough for us to go there. However, in the evening something special happens: Paolo, master of the pizza takes the stage. When friends call up to say, ' Let 's go for a pizza , they mean Let 's drive from our town to your town, passing many pizzerias on the way in order to sample Paolo 's delicious offerings . There is another pizzeria in le Marche that claims the title of best pizzeria in Europe . I have been there and I hereby award Vecchi Sapori the title of Best Pizzeria in le Marche! Whether it be after lunch or after an evening pizza, we always adjourn to the bar above to pay the bill and enjoy outstandingly good coffee and lovely smooth grappa bianca served typically by the lovely Oriana. Anyway, don 't take my word for it, try it for yourself. You won 't regret it.
Spent two wonderful evenings here recently whilst staying locally and it was fantastic would highly recommend. Paulo and his team welcomed us like family and the food was delicious. Make sure you have a table on the terrace the view is simply out of this world, all the way to the Adriatic!
We really enjoyed our visits to Paulo and Adele's very friendly restaurant. The views across the hills down to the sea are magical on a warm, July evening. Pizzas are super thin and crispy, and very tasty. I had grilled meat a couple of times and the agnello was among the very best I have ever tasted. Waitresses were a bit run off their feet a few times but the wait didn't matter with the spectacular views and the relaxed atmosphere. All round an excellent restaurant and well worth a visit. The Piceno Rosso Superior is lovely if you like a full-bodied red.
