Tanta - Larcomar

The larcomar mall in the city part miraflores in lima is a great place to make some shopping, drink a drink or eat and enjoy the incredible view of the South Pacific.

We stopped tonight and had a very nice dinner. the host was friendly and bilingual, our server was well trained and attentive, eating was well prepared and the best papas fritas I had in peru. after dinner after leaving the restaurant I was about 100 meters away when our server ran to us and returned the hat I left at the table. Up and beyond what I would expect, and I worked 35 years in the restaurant industry. I think my server name was marlon. but whoever it was deserved great kudos. it pays to tap well if there are questions.

Tanta is a popular Peruvian restaurant chain with multiple locations. At the Larcomar shopping center, the space is inviting with both inside seating and outside tables shaded by umbrellas. Although our outside table did not have a view of the ocean, we enjoyed watching the...activity in the mall. The menu is extensive and is available in English. I chose the Menestron Tanta and received a huge portion of a piping hot hearty stew with chunks of tender beef that were so large that a knife was required. While not the light meal that I had expected, it was so delicious that I finished the entire dish. My partner was pleased with his large portion of pasta. With a beer and a bottle of water, the charge was 98.50 PEN (about $29). Service was professional (we were thoughtfully assigned a waiter able to communicate with us in English) but somewhat slow. Tanta is an excellent choice, and much more interesting than the nearby American chain restaurants.

The meal was good, however they took 40 minutes to serve it (considering the fact that my order was only for one person, I think people should know ahead of time if they are going to have to wait for 40 minutes to get their...meal). I wouldn’t say the prices were reasonable. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant at all, the view is nice, I guess.
