Bidra med feedbackThis is a tasting menu without the menu. The chef selects the dishes to be served for a three or five course tasting extravaganza. You just sit back and enjoy. The first course was a Seafood & Fruit salad, consisting of smoked Sea Bass, Octopus, pear cubes, mango cubes, and Black Olive slices served over an avocado and cilantro base. This was followed by seared scallops, baby chicken, sea bass and New York strip steak. Each was cooked perfectly with the appropriate garnishments. And then came dessert. A chocolate souflee baked in a tamale husk, served with banana ice cream and flavored dipping sauces. A true slice of heaven. This restaurant is a block off the main drag but worth getting lost to find it.
This is a 3 or 5 course meal, your choice but the chef will decide what you're going to eat. Each serving is unique and delicious. We chose the 5 courses and were very satisfied being rolled out of the restaurant. Impressive quality of service and food. If you want a dining adventure that offers fine dining food and don't mind paying a little more for the quality, this is for you. We will be coming back.
We had an amazing multicourse dinner with wine pairings, and loved every part. The dishes were so tasty and well constructed (scallops with rice noodles, octopus and pork belly, red snapper, filet mignon and flourless chocolate cake for me and cannoli for my honey). I usually have to double-check each ingredient in a dish when traveling and it was wonderful to know that they were experienced with gluten-free cooking. I enjoyed that many of the wine pairings were Baja/Guadalupe valley selections. But the best part truly was the lovely service from Christian, Regina and Renaldo. Definitely check this place out for a special occasion romantic dinner!
I am reluctant to write how wonderful this place is because once the word gets out about this amazing place it might make it difficult to get a table. This is the best restaurant in San Jose. No need to travel to Sears at the Palmilla or Las Ventanas for a great meal. It is unique in that there is no menu or price list. It is what the chef prepares that day. You can eat there three times in one week and get something different every night. Service was excellent. I love this place.
We came across Casianos quite by chance—it was the place our hotel could get us a reservation on a very busy night. It was perfect. It is modestly sized and beautifully appointed. The service is exemplary—friendly, efficient and not intrusive. We were surprised to find that there is no menu and that it is a five course (really seven if you include the amuse and dessert) meal at the chef’s discretion (but subject to personal allergies and the like). The food was in every course superb. Then as we had no idea what we were going to be served, we opted for the wine parings. The wines, too, were excellent and introduced us to Mexican wines which, it turns out, can be wonderful. Until the bill arrived we had no idea of the price point and still have no idea how much was for food and how much for the wine pairings. My guess is that the wine adds quite a lot to the total and potential guests should be aware that at least with the pairings this is an expensive evening. Personally, I am looking forward to going back again and we highly recommend it.
