China Chen - San Jose

This is our way to for egg noodles in SJ it is the best in terms of texture and taste. There is always a waiting period (outside the restaurant) so prepared accordingly. Noodles both dry and with soup are great as the shrimp crackers.

UPDATE: Still delicious and our visit at least once a week. Can't do this place enough LOVE. Small, juicy, family-run small hole in the wall. An absolute hidden gem. Had the shrimps Noodle soup and it was exactly what I needed on this rainy day. Parking on the street. Looking for other items on their menu.

You wouldn't think much. Seeing the framed 2.5-star review from a newspaper article in 2001 gave me a few thoughts, how can they be so proud of a low-star review? My expectations have been set. Fast forward, the meal? was the best meal the whole trip? the noodles, the broth, my God. Five stars from me!

Looking for fresh Vietnamese egg noodles called Mi? That's the point!! That was so good that I don't stop thinking about it! Got 2 bowls of mi, one with broth on the side and one with shrimps, an order of shrimps that were the best I had ever fried to perfection filled w tons of shrimp! Also the half-fried chicken, the beyond crispy and juicy!! The flour rice cake was also delicious. Overall, such a great place, we will be back!

It is hard for me to rate them 4 star. All of their ingredients from noodle, pork bone broth, fish ball,.beef balls, are all fresh and delicious. And the food is very nice. However, I ordered a hu tieu nam vang (Cambodian noodle), soup aside, but the noodles didn't come out as original one, it does not have the minced pork sauce that I often get with Hu Tieu Nam Vang. Beyond that, the noodles and soup are great. So that is just my personal expectation with a specific dish. The waiter and cashier is very attentive and quick.
