Gasthof Wieser - SAN GENESIO ATESINO

We were back at Gasthof Wieser this year, as we enjoyed so much last year. The very warm and very attentive reception as well as the delicious and freshly prepared food we enjoyed especially. The idyllic location with the nearby hiking possibilities (with arrival) in the Lärchenwäldern (Salten) is an experience for itself. We'll be back!

The rooms were small and with no more contemporary equipment, this also applies to the bathroom! From where the operators take the Chuzpe and get 30€ for a breakfast, which consists mainly of warmed rolls on weekends, our knowledge is withdrawn. Speaking of weekends: from noon to the evening it is quite loud and recreation is hardly to be thought of on site.

Well... I've been coming back to the Wieser for years because: this has to be the most beautiful place on this earth the views across to the Dolomites are absolutely stunning; you can take short walks or longer hikes on clearly marked paths through high flowery meadows and woodland; it's wonderfully remote but quite easily reached; the accomodation is very comfortable; the food (eggs, vegetables, meat) comes from the farm and Annemarie and her daughter are great cooks and above all, the welcome is second to none. The recently introduced Bozen card which gives free bus and Seilbahn travel throughout the area, museum entry and use of the pool at the village of Jenesien (San Ginesio) is a bonus.

This Agriturismo was a perfect stop for us on our way to Lazio. We stayed there for two days and is ideally located on a starting point of a couple of interesting walking ways. The town of Jenesien is only a couple of kilometres away. The town is small, but has all the amenities: a couple of bars, bank, restaurants. Our host, Anne Marie, was fantastic. We loved the breakfast with products straight from the farm of the agriturismo. Diner was also ok. Staying at Gasthof Wieser you get a 'Bozen Card ' offering you free use of the community pool of Jenesien, the cable lift to Bolzano, free use of the Bolzano buses and free entrance to the Bolzano museums Ötzi! .

Take a walk up to Wieser and try the 3 different Cannerderli, or anything you find on the menu, if the weather is good find a seat on the terrace, has a wonderful view.
