Bidra med feedbackI ate at Chef Color for lunch with friends from my hostel in Campeche, in the afternoon of November 27th, after visiting the Edzna Mayan ruins in the morning. The restaurant was located inside a bright yellow-painted historic building with no sign, at the corners of Calle 12 and Calle 55. It was a small and simple restaurant with only a few plastic tables and chairs inside. They served a selection of inexpensive and tasty authentic Mexican foods from their small menu. There were a few options as well as daily specials and you ordered by choosing which items you wanted from the assortment of already cooked items behind the glass counter. I ordered a plate with white rice, a black bean sauce, salad, and soft, fried, sweet plantains along with a refreshing Coca Cola to top it off (there were lots of meat options as well, but I am a vegetarian). Everything was absolutely delicious and my meal only cost 58 pesos. The staff were so charming and very friendly, and one of the female staff members spoke excellent English as well (which was rare to find in Campeche). The overall service was great. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch at Chef Color and would recommend it to anyone looking for an inexpensive and tasty meal of traditional Mexican food in Campeche’s historic centre!
During our stay in Campeche we had lunch at this place. It only has a few tables inside and is closed for dinner. It's only a few blocks away from the Zocalo (unlike Google Maps will show). They have a small menu and every day two different specials. That day the Mole was on the menu. So we ordered one Chicken Mole and also Chile Relleno. The Mole was a very good choice...bursting with flavors! The Chile was very well done too, good filling and crispy outside. The place might be small and the menu too, but they really know how to cook here and they do that for a very small price. It's a great little restaurant, perfect to fill your stomach between exploring the town. But, like said, be aware it's only open in the morning and lunchtime. Wanna know more about my trips?
