Lavo Italian San Diego

What a disappointment. After we had been protecting lavo nyc for years, we tried this place after the move. my man ordered the mushes as appetizer and spaghetti and meatballs and was happy with the meal. our waiter said he would send over focaccia to suck the mussel juice. it never came. Finally we asked the bus service for the focaccia, which was more of a brot not focaccia. other tables were offered with their pasta freshly grated cheese. we have not. our waiter recommended to the seebarsch napolitano to pair with the barbera I ordered. it was absolutely infallible. the fish was floating in the sauce, which is too salty. I took 2 bites and left the rest. When we mentioned this at the end of the evening, the waiter was irresponsible, especially because we use a gift certificate that we received as a thank you gift for the host family in our house. there is a lack of consistency, professionalism and quality of food and service. at $34 for a meatball...not supported by a quality eating experience, they can do better!

The ambiance was great, amazing, efficient service provided by Brian. The food was delicious, in specific the wagyu meatballs. Thank you for that recommendation Chris! The negroni was tasteful and smooth. Great experience, highly recommend! Will return!

Design was great, bar and service were on point and the salmon was delicious. The oysters (West Coast) and tuna tartare stack were subpar. Other than that, I enjoyed it.

Made a reservation but only outside in the cold was available so we were left with bar top. Good thing we were able to seat three of us together but we were taken care of very well. The bartender helped us pick drinks and entrees. Even when one entree came out late staff was very apologetic the bartender made us shots for free and gave us a complimentary dessert. Great music and ambiance. Will come back.
