Farfharina en la Fondue

Just a few steps from the hectic troupe of Plaza and Mercado San Francisco, Farfharina en la Fondue, a charming restaurant offering creative plates, is best described as a full-fledged Italian comfort food with a Mexican spin. I chose from the lunchtime... Comida menú on both visits. For a reasonable set price, I enjoyed a generous four course meal, which is an appetizer with homemade sesame crackers, dips, spreads and bread. I recommend you to save space for dessert, because any option is also homemade and delicious. Gabriela, the boss/owner/manager is a talented, competent and friendly woman who is passionate about good food, Italian cuisine and her masa madre that she uses in her baked bread, crackers and desserts. She explained how she chooses quality, seasonal and local products for her creative dishes, many of which are vegetarian. On both occasions all in our parties were satisfied with their meals, service and value.

This is a clean family-run facility that has an interesting mix of MexItalia food in an open kitchen. We were missed by Leonardo, the grandson of the chef Hilda. Both family members spoke English and Spanish and Italian. Hilda and her daughter, the founder of the food (which leads during our visit to Italy), are world travelers. This was shown in the presentation of our meals and in their taste.

We stumbled over this place on Saturday night and although it was empty decided to give him a way as we believed a bit of a change. We got free vegetable sticks, crackers and delicious dives. We ordered a Greek salad, spaghetti blognese, shrimps with rice and risotto. All meals were delicious as the free homemade bread. The owner mother who had made all the food fresh in the house came and spoke to us and told us how she had traveled a lot and her daughter lived and married in Italy and had come back to Mexico to set up the restaurant. The waiter (the owner son) was very helpful and spoke good English. Definitely recommend!

We had dinner here Feb 12th 2016. The Soup, Hamburger, and the Chicken plate were all Fabulous. Not very often you can call a Hamburger Fabulous ...this was one of them. Everything was served Hot (an absolute must, but no longer common). The food was more...than Delicious and the setting/decor a real 'Treat ' when you consider the many slap stick Restaurants open for business here. The Host/Owner is well travelled and has a 'Genuine ' and obvious love for what she is doing. Would recommend to anyone. Bill Di
