East Side Banh Mi - San Carlos

We got 3 Caramel Pork Noodle Bowls and the flavors were really good; however, the name is a little bit deceiving as there is quite a small portion of actual noodles. Most of the bowl is made up of the greens (which were crisp and fresh). We had just expected more noodles in a noodle bowl.

This wasnt a great meal. The sandwiches were pretty soggy, not very flavorful and for some strange reason there were only cilantro stems and no leaves in one of them. Our Citrus Soy Noodle Bowl didnt have any noodles in it (like not a single one). I wont be ordering from here again.

Pork Banh Mi is usually excellent. However, on my order from today, they used an old old, soggy and soft bread roll (instead of the fresh and crispy baguette roll usually used). At the same time, the pork belly was cold and very chewy on the fatty parts. Wont re-order until these quality issues are taken care of

The Lemongrass Chicken Rice Bowl was a 3/5. Strictly OK, nothing to write home about. The rice, pickled veggies, cucumber, mixed greens etc all tasted fresh and were delicious. But the chicken itself was the biggest disappointment. It didnt taste of lemongrass anything, and was frankly quite boring. I wouldnt order this dish again. Pity because the rest of the rice bowl minus the main ingredient (meat) is actually good.

The Chicken Banh Mi is really good, and the food always arrives quickly for us. The cookies are really good too, definitely recommend this place.
