Smashin Crab - San Antonio

Took our son out for great meal before start of school year. Food was great, our server was attentive and personable. Its not cheap, but lots of quality food for the money.Food: 5/5

The food, it 's fantastic. The boils are so good the trinity sauce is chefs kiss. went on my birthday for my first time was so happy we did. My little won 't stop asking for crab now. the waiter, Jordan, was super sweet!! We will be back.Food: 5/5

My husband and I ate dinner here last night. Our server (Tabi) was awesome and made us feel very comfortable. We both ordered the same thing, the fried catfish basket. It was fried to golden perfection! The fries were well seasoned. I ordered a cup of the gumbo as an appetizer. The flavor was spot on! The roux was perfect and I can assure you this is the real deal! It made me feel like I was in a restaurant in New Orleans. My only critique is that the gumbo was way over salted. I wish it hadn’t been because I could taste the perfection of the gumbo under all the salt. We will definitely be back. I’ll also be taking my own travel size Tabasco sauce. I was really shocked to know they don’t carry it!

My waitress was extremely on point! She was hyped to help and suggest. That was the best part of the meal. I read reviews before heading out to this place and was excited. What a disappointment! Asked for appetizer sampler, salty, tasteless, average, sad. Asked for lobster roll-dry lobster meat. The garlic and butter pasta was okay. The crawfish boil was okay. That is all. They need new seafood suppliers- we are literally 2-3 from the Gulf, I would expect better quality. Would not go back.

I have been to the Smashin Crab on Bandera a few times, always enjoyed it. Tried this location due to it not being as busy. No regrets, still the same great food and service. Actually like this one a bit better, closer to the house and it has an outside dining patio. Very enjoyable location, kids love it there. Only wish the prices were a bit lower. Family of 4 plan to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $150 possibly more depending on refreshments and tip. But in my opinion, it's well worth it. To often people find themselves at a restaurant where the food or service and possibly both are atrocious. I don't mind paying a bit more for great food and service. Try it, I don't believe you will be disappointed.
