Bidra med feedbackA lot has already been described in the previous reviews. The spot is very beautiful; situated in the Los Tilos forest. The food is very average palmero food. Goat, rabbit, pork meat, boiled potatoes etc. This review could have been four stars but something gave our visit a bad taste. Without ordering they gave us a basket with a little bit of bread and cutlery. This dry bread was not on the house but on the bill... the bill only contained prices (without the name of the dish) so I don’t know if this joke cost us 2 or 3 euro’s. We didn’t feel for a discussion about this and did not complain. Just don’t eat the bread if you don’t want to pay for it. And be aware; you can’t pay with card.
We stopped here for lunch after a 3,5 hours walk through the marvelous green forest and watching the cascade. The staff warmly welcomed us. We enjoyed great delicious meals and had a fun time with Pancho the raven who was picking food (not just breadcrumps). Don't miss this place it's unique and not expensive.
I had eaten here twice before, including on my first ever holiday on La Palma in 2000, and I returned for lunch on a walk one day in January. There is parking close by, and there are lots of great walks in the area. It took me 80 minutes to walk here from Los Sauces, but I spent a lot of that time looking at the birds, butterflies, plants and scenery, including the big drops underneath two of the road bridges! There is a lot of room inside Casa Demitrio, but I enjoyed my lunch at one of the tables outside. Casa Demitrio is in the laurel forest at Los Tilos deep in Barranco del Agua, so little sun reaches it. Keeping my coat on, it wasn 't cold. My meal came to €12.50, for mixed salad, the Canarian classic 'papas arrugadas con mojo rojo, ' bread and a soft drink. The Canary Islands are well known in the study of evolution, with some species of animals and plants unique to one or more islands or with different appearances from Continental forms. Thus, the terrace at Casa Demitrio is a classic locality for seeing the strikingly coloured La Palma form of the chaffinch, different from the birds at home. Several of chaffinches gathered round when I was eating my lunch. The salad contained slices of banana, and a female 'chaffie ' tried to make off with a piece of banana when I wasn 't looking. I was enchanted by the cheek of it, but those with rather less enthusiasm for inadvertently sharing their food with birds may need to watch their plates when sitting outside!
The service has been impeccable and very pleasant, we were three people and we have eaten two interiors and three main dishes and we have satisfied ourselves. the taste of food was very good, special mention to rabbit in sauce. the location is very good also as you can eat surrounded by nature on the terrace or on a homely site with fireplace inside
We have been here three times now. The average traditional Canarian restaurant is not so good . This is better. Make an effort to speak Spanish and be positive. The service is brusque but efficient. I recommend the rabbit. Lovely fire in winter and beautiful location.
