Red Dog - San Andreas

The restaurant must have been very new. Very limited bar and the drinks, although simple strait forward, were disappointing. The wait person had no idea about the menu or the drinks. The food was OK. A rather unsatisfying experience. Bummer :

Enjoy this before going to the SF Giants game! Great space, awesome food! If you haven’t been, need to go!! You are missing out! Pulled pork, brisket, burger, great drinks!!

Excellent food and friendly service. We will certainly be back for more! All three of us had the smoked barbecue ribs. They were cooked to perfection. Each order came with a choice of two sauces and two side dishes. Our server, Kate was very attentive and knew the menu well. She provided excellent descriptions and recommendations. The atmosphere is pleasant a great place for casual dining.

I really hoped for a better review given the few choices of restaurants in this densely populated section of SOMA. While the staff was warm and welcoming they often forgot to follow thru on asks or needs without a reminder. Our food came out lukewarm instead of hot. Smoked chicken was very tasty. Sauces were generally bland and the spicy version was not very spicy. The two sides were sweet potato mash and collard greens. Sweet potato mash besides being lukewarm was quite bland. Collard greens were over cooked and too salty in addition to lukewarm.

We were a group of 11, and although it was a Friday night, the restaurant wasn’t busy. Two complaints: 1) Two members of our party didn’t get their meals until the rest were half finished, because their meals were given to another table. The manager apologized and comped their food. 2) Our server, and the manager, were having a great time socializing with a couple at the bar, so much so that our server paid no attention to our table. I waited 15-20 minutes after finishing my first beer before having to go to the bar to ask for another. When the server brought the beer, she didn’t ask anyone else at the table if they wanted any more drinks, and my friend beside me had to ask her for another. She never came to check on how the food was, or if we wanted anything else. When I finally got her attention, and commented on how she was so busy socializing with people at the bar that she was ignoring our table, instead of an apology, I got attitude. She asked, do you need something?, and I said, yes, the check! We would have stayed later and ordered more drinks, but the lack of service ruined it for us. I could understand the lack of service/attention if it were really busy, or short-staffed, but neither was the case. Doubt I’ll ever go back, and It’s a shame, because the food was good. .
