Bidra med feedbackBunny and Clyde’s is a popular spot a couple of blocks from the river, with several vegan options clearly marked on the menu, and at least a couple more that can be made vegan by subtraction. We enjoyed the vegan chili when passing through Salida on a cold day and it hit the spot. The “Buddha Bowl” takes a controversial position on the centuries-old debate about whether the Buddha accepted food offerings containing mayo or politely declined on compassionate grounds. We can’t speak for Buddha, but we choose to walk The Path of No Mayo, and the result was somewhat plain. It would be great if they offered a vegan dressing option instead. “Bunny’s Signature Vegan Curry” is a Moosewood-style interpretation of an Indian curry (the kind your hippie friends make at home), which was OK but not our fave. When we tried the vegan biscuits and gravy, the gravy was good but unfortunately the biscuits were quite undercooked (still very gooey and sticky inside) so we couldn’t eat them. Hopefully that was just a one-off mistake. They make a good vegan chai. There’s also a vegan burrito. It can be busy around mealtimes. If it’s too crowded to get a table, you can bring your reusable takeout containers and picnic by the river. They sometimes have live music. Service is generally warm and helpful. This place is my go-to when I travel through this area. It's off the main roads, but worth the detour. Plus you can sit on the river and enjoy yer noms!
Excellent vegan biscuits and gravy. Pretty decent burrito! Good espresso too.
This cute little spot in Salida is the closest thing to a vegan restaurant in town. We tried the Sweet potato Cauliflower Chickpea Veggie Curry with rice and the Red lentil and Veggie Dahl. Both had incredible flavors. Also tried the Kale and beet salad. Delicious. They make 3 infused iced teas and beautiful smoothies.
Cute little cafe with clearly marked vegan items. We got the vegan breakfast burritos which were full of roasted veggies. We also got oat milk cappuccinos and they had plenty of other alternative milk options, too. Also had the tropical smoothie made with coconut milk. All around delicious and nutritious.
