La Playa - Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

This place is the model of how to be a beach bar/restaurant. great atmosphere, extraordinary eating and the personal are exemplary. the owner, antoine, at our 3 years old to see, was exhausted from our long trip, quickly knelt down and offered her a doll, with...play. he saved the day. on our 3-week trip over the nearby coast of italiens and the nearby cost cities of frankreichs this was the best place we ate and enjoyed two afternoons (we had originally only one booked! Many thanks to antoine and his beautiful team.

We went for a simple and quick lunch without the greatest expectations. They were largely exceeded! The waiter recommended several entrées and we ended up with tellines (small shells) and knife shells as starter and tuna and mackerel as main dishes. All served by friendly...and skilled staff. Food was delicious, so was the location with a light breeze coming in over the terrace from the sea to which we had a nice view. As always in France, paying can take some time (impolite to indicate to guest they have to leave, but also that sales effort is concentrated elsewhere after you have finished your order). If you pay by card you have to do so at the desk.

Difficult to get a table and/or a sunbed in high season if they do not call at least 24h in advance! the place is very in demand. However, you should not despair how to always count on the manager to help. not only do we have a table for midday and sunbeds for the afternoon (at a reduced price) but we even had an incredibly delicious wild seabrane for 2, probably one of the last ones available this day. the manager made us the day and I wish him the best of success in his business. Pity that I did not have his name, but they can easily recognize him: big guy with cash, blonde bart, curly hair and various fish tattooed on his poor! thank you for having received us no matter how overbooked their beach could be!

We arrived at an almost empty restaurant around the afternoon and sat in a rear corner, as it was apparently the only table that was not reserved. in the did, after a past were almost all tables occupied, so reservations is a good idea. The...wads are friendly, but not very well organized. we asked five times to order and finally I had to go to the bar and demanded to order what our good mood is rather a little alleviating. I ordered a burger that was simple but fresh but I expected a bit more for €21. the gambe of my wife was good. total bill for two meals, some water and three small glasses house wine was almost 70 €. for such a price level the staff needs a quality of the food an upgrade. ps we were quite surprised to see service staff again and again to stop people who were not guests who wanted to use the toilets. that was a bit disturbing. I understand that they as restaurant owners do not want people to lie on the beach to use their facilities for free, but there are opportunities to take care of this situation without employees who are chasing people beside restaurants.

Best restaurant experience on the sea ever. we had a morning horse in the camargue and drove to lunch and afternoon on the beach. Could not dream better: extremely friendly staff, 6 stars for the team! we had not booked, not to forget. we arrived at the week of 15th august, worst in the year. but they found us a table, even though it was completely booked. we also have our matelats on the beach after lunch. eating is just delicious. best Wifi code ever try to try it: tellines and couteaux gratines as appetizer are a must, they get their finger food and taste the sea best. my wife had to playa burger. we just spent time in the sky. thanks to the team and our amazing pablo, the most attentive waiter they can dream.
