Bidra med feedbackThe spectacular views of the Burgundy countryside and the basilica at Vezelay from this hilltop hotel restaurant are matched by the equally spectacular dishes produced by an obviously highly skilled chef. Veal sweetbreads in a pastry case with a tarragon sauce to start was a delight and an indication of the good things to come. A main course of mousseline de brochet (pike) in a rich nantua sauce served with fluffy rice was the best example of this Burgundian delicacy I have ever tasted. A good selection of prime local cheeses followed and then dessert of pear and blackcurrant sorbets to complete a memorable meal. Burgundian cuisine at its very best. Comprehensive, fairly priced wine list. Unhurried, attentive service by, presumably the husband and wife owners and their waiter, all three clearly and genuinely determined to do everything to ensure guests enjoy their meals. I cannot wait to make a return visit.
We chose the Hotel Crispol at random from the Michelin Guide after leaving our broken down boat on the Nivernais canal. We were doubly delighted to find such an excellent restaurant came with our choice. We ate each night of our stay. The random experience ended our stay in Burgundy in a very delightful way.
On the way to Vézelay, the Crispol is a great place to stop by to enjoy tasty local French food! The service is elegant and very good and the menu proposes excellent meals for a very good value! A big plus: the amazing view you have from the hill to Vézelay! We've enjoyed a great dinner, seeing sunset over Vézelay and then lots of shooting stars.
We did not have a booking but as we drove past it looked like a stunning location to eat. inside was just perfect. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. you could have a selection from the Menu or A La carte menu. Duck with fruits was excellent, as was chocolate mousse. It had stunning views across the paddocks to Vezelay, Burgundy, France. Highly recommend
