La Guinguette - Saint-Martin-d'Ardèche

Reserved a table on Saturday evening. Arrived to be greeted by a chap who quite frankly looked like he'd just come in off the street. We were seated and within a reasonably quick time were asked for drinks orders. And there ends the service. The staff were all dressed in various outfits that looked mostly like they had been wearing them all day, or needed a good wash, we never saw the same person twice, the disorganisation and lack of communication was clearly apparent as servers were running round with no direction. We were seated at 20h and finally got our meals at 21.35h... 2 steak and chips, 2 lamb and chips, 2 peppercorn sauce the food had clearly been sitting on the pass for some time, the chips were cold, the steaks and lamb over cooked over rested and missing the peppercorn sauces... but we were so hungry by then we just ate it. They don't need more staff, they simply need to train and properly organise run the ones they have. The menu whilst fairly big, is simple and basic, everything with chips and though the plates are plentiful, the disorganisation leaves people (not just us) waiting ridiculous amounts of time for their food and when everything is virtually the same it should be a much slicker operation. Tables around us experienced the same as we did. We did eventually manage to order dessert because they looked incredible (and were) and they came in a timely fashion, but we did not tip, which is VERY unlike us as we have been on the other side, but it was simply not a good experience at all and needs ALOT of work, perhaps starting with a staff t shirt and working up to some sort of training and basic organisation! Needless to say, we don't recommend it and won't be going back!

You seriously don 't need a main course or, share a started the portion size here is big (and I have a biiiiig appetite). Great taureau steak served when we were there take it rare so that it doesn 't end up like an old boot!! And try the Ch 'ti ice cream which is a lixture of gingerbread and pecan vanilla ice cream lush!

Super restaurant service is impeccable even if unforeseen one eats well the setting is pleasant one will return there

A beer or a good ice after the descent of the Ardèche. Their very nice boss helped us.
