CRU - Bar a Huitres - Saint-Lambert

I am writing this review in English in order to reach out to as many people as I possibly can! To the foodies who wish to give their tastebuds an “out of this world” culinary experience and to the people who wish to have a wonderful dining experience, BECAUSE of the type of service they shall receive, this is THE restaurant where you should go. Every dish is made with care. It looks as good as it tastes! A pleasure for the eyes and the mouth. Each piece melts in your mouth and is filled with flavor. Whether you are a sea or meat lover, “Le Cru” has a dish made just for you! And the service is truly exceptional! Lauriane our waitress was probably one of the kindest waitresses who has ever served us. She kept it real and answered several questions with a smile. And goodness knows that I had many as it was our first time at this restaurant. Simon, the gentleman who had to move us from one table to another one, due to a previous reservation being made, did it in such a politically correct and amicable way, that one can simply not hold it against them for this little mixup. He then treated us with special care and made sure that our needs were perfectly attended to. Finally, last but not least, the owner Julian came to see us as I had kindly requested to speak to him to let him know how extraordinary we found their service food. We wanted their boss to be aware that we would come back not only for the great food, but because of the service which came with it, an absolute bonus! And the owner Julian was just as pleasant charming to speak with and as it turns out recognized me from his father’s restaurant where we used to often go pre-Covid. So guess the proverb about the “apple not falling far from the tree” is true as well as “like father like son”, because everything about “Le Cru” was exceptional and if every restaurant and business treated their customers and by extension their employees in the same way as this restaurant does, money would be growing on trees and everyone would be happy! So all this to say that you should go to “Le Cru”! With family, friends or even alone, this is THE restaurant you ABSOLUTELY NEED TO GO TO…NOW! What are you waiting for, stop reading my review and go!

My wife and I hadn’t been to a restaurant in over a year. Everything was absolutely excellent. From the oysters to the appetizers to the main course. The service was very good. It is expensive but You get your money’s worth. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Very nice very chic restaurant with a bit too much noise in the background and swish modern decor. Service was superb. Food not quite as good as we had thought. Oysters...a speciality here...were absolutely perfect. Soup...seafood chowder ...was very nice but the beef tartare a bit too spicy...too much Dijon. The halibut was good but slightly overcooked. Shrimp were tasty but not sspectacular

I usually don't write reviews for restaurants I only visit once, but during my recent trip to Montreal, I had the opportunity to try Cru, located outside the usual tourist areas of the city. The food was outstanding. The octopus was delicious and paired perfectly with a smooth whipped potato and leek vichyssoise. The veal cheeks were so tender they melted in my mouth. The waiter did a fantastic job selecting wines by the glass, particularly the Italian chardonnay that went well with the octopus and oysters. For dessert, the chocolate mousse cake was heavenly, especially the chocolate-covered hazelnut wafer cubes. The service was attentive without feeling rushed, and we enjoyed the ambiance and food so much that we even shared a glass of Calvados to extend our dining experience.

Enjoyed the lovely service, the fresh oysters and the beef tartar with bone marrow. The Prosecco was also fantastic, as was the cheese platter. The service was phenomenal and I would definitely head there again, perhaps when it's warmer out so we can enjoy the terrasse.
