Bidra med feedbackWhat a great way to add a little finale to our vacation in Vercors by having a good meal. We heard about the Cafe Brochier so we gave it a try. It did not disappoint! Great food and great service in a nice small but simple setting outdoor located in the village of Saint Julien en Vercors. We had the salad of smoked fish, the samosas of blue cheese (so good). For the main meal, we had the fish (excellent and so fresh) with great butter sauce, the veal which was tender and the polenta was very very delicious. For desserts, we had to try the homemade walnut ice cream and the lemon tart. What a great evening. Thank you Muriel and Sebastian and our compliments to the chef. If you are in this region, give this restaurant a try.
Cafe Brochier is one of the best in the region. It has a very nice terrace and a garden. The food is perfect.
Part of me wants to keep this place secret because it truly is a hidden gem, as is this region of France. But the other part of me wants to tell everyone about it because it's special and special places should be shared. On the top of a plateau surrounded by mountains, greenery and cows is this tiny restaurant nestled in the 'main' street of St Julian en Vercors. We were celebrating a birthday and took a chance on the restaurant due to the chef's reputation, even though we had no idea what to expect food wise. We sat outside on the terrace as it was a beautiful day. We were presented with a melon granita with a dash of rum to cleanse the palate. For entree i had a pastry parcel filled with bleu du vercors cheese and walnuts, served with a salad which had the tastiest bacon i've ever eaten. For main course i had the 10 hour beef served with a 3 veg mash. For dessert i had crème brulee. Warm, moist and crunchy on top.I particularly liked the information provided in the front of the wine list; all the names of the local companies the chef gets his produce from with a special note saying there are no microwaves on site. Prices were between 9-12 euros for entree, 17-24 euros for main, 6 euros for dessert. If i had to sum it up, i would say 3 Q's: quiet, quaint, quality.
