Bidra med feedbackBy now, you should know I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to Malaysian places. But you never know until you try out a place right? We decided to check out Penang Delight Cafe with that in mind. They have a second location in Marpole. This PDC is located beside Aburi Sushi.
Salad...rice...and noodle. Malaysian style. Dishes run a bit small in size, but very flavourful. Try the lunch specials and avoid the dinner crowds.
This is my favourite Malaysian Restaurant in Vancouver. Eventho' prices are a little steep but food's great. Curries look like what it should look like back home, thick, strong NOT watered down (at least that's what it was, when I tried it some time back), rendang's good (almost like mom's), KL Hokkien see is yummm, noodles in egg sauce is delish Hainanese Chicken rice is good too. I would highly recommend this restaurant especially to anyone who wants to try Malaysian food, for the 1st time. Try the best never look back, till the next best comes along. They also have another branch in Marpole, 75th Hudson.
Marketed as an Express sister store to its main restaurant in Marpole, Penang didn't disappoint!<br/ <br/ We visited on a early Sunday afternoon and the place was still busy with guests and many families. Quickly seated, the servers were able to greet us and carry a decent conversation. The menu itself was slightly intimidating as it features an assortment of dishes, making it hard for my table to decide! Without much experience in Malaysian cuisine, we decided to go for the staples of Roti Canai and Fish Ball Laksa. We also ordered a family-style Spicey Sambal Eggplant on the side.<br/ <br/ The roti was served with a spicey curry dip on the side and it was definitely a good way to begin our meal. The roti had a slight buttery taste and didn't feel overly greasy with the curry dip either. The fish ball laksa features two types of noodles: egg noodles and vermicelli. The overall portion of the laksa was generous, but it definitely wasn't as thick and flavourful as the other laksas you'd find in Chinese or Hong Kong-style establishments. Likewise, I would've been able to finish a bowl of this laksa myself as it wasn't heavy at all. The highlight of our meal was definitely the Spicey Sambal Eggplant! It features pan-fried eggplant pieces with a little bit of minced meat and spices. It was the right kind of savory and we simply couldn't stop eating it!<br/ <br/ Overall a great place for group lunch. Would definitely come by again to try more items from their menu!
Best Tom yum fried rice. I don't usually comment on fried rice but this one was amazing. The rice was wrapped around with an egg and drizzled with Tom yum sauce. Everything mixed together incredibly.
