Bidra med feedbackFeb 14, 2019. Atmosphere was nice, it was empty at 6pm dinner time. Music was nice to listen to. Food was horrible. Ordered shrimp scampi, shrimp was big and delicious but pasta was plain and didn't taste anything like scampi. More like butter and pasta. Husband ordered 12oz fillet which didn't even look like a 12oz steak with mashed potatoes no veggies as sides. Just a side of potato and a steak that didn't look like 12oz. And it was cooked well, yet asked for medium well. We did mention it to the waitress and she didn't even make an effort in replacing the steak. Side note, when she brought out the bread biscuit, she asked me to touch them to make sure they were warm

First from the hostess was brilliant and my family felt very welcome. The man who played the piano was amazing and even played for my children. The manager made us a table for our family and was very helpful. The environment was very welcoming and everything from food to service was of the highest quality. I highly recommend this place.
So I ordered the grilled octopus and for the price it was extremely small. It's $16. My waitress said the octopus was a good size, but it was definitely not. Not for dinner. Even for an appetizer, I'd keep it small. I paired it with the tomato salad and everything it had was tomatoes and orange no salad at all. Besides, it was much bigger than the octopus, which was also on the appetizer list. The salad cost even less a larger portion. I was disappointed to say the least. The staff didn't seem to be energetic at all. The place was empty when I entered with my family and stayed like this all the time. That was at 6-7 in the night. There were only a few people at the bar when I left. The piano player was extremely talented to play classic jazz hits all the time. I even had a conversation with him on the way out and gave a song recommendation. One he didn't know and said he would try. Overall, the service and food portions could have been better by a long shot.
All about this place is a WOOD. We went here for NYE (12/31/18); We had 9pm reservations for a 4 course Surf/Turf food $80/person. We waited about fifteen minutes before a server visited us. A young girl in Biker Shorts and a sweatshirt gave us bread. When she asked to order a drink, she said, I don't know what you mean, we have drinks. I then asked them if there was an actual server responsible for our order. Finally, our server came by and took our beverage order. I ordered a French 75 and my husband ordered a Stella Artois. My French 75 was served in a waterglass (instead of the normal champagne glass) and tasted much more like lemonade than anything. My husband asked for a beer glass, but a water glass was brought, even smaller than my French 75 glass, and the beer was warm. When I asked why the drink was served in a waterglass instead of a champagne glass, the server explained that champagne glasses are too small. My drink was untrue and after a sip or two, I took it to the bartender and told her that it tastes more like lemonade and clearly had no champagne in the drink. She told me she made the drink and that there was champagne in it. I told her politely that if she did it, it was done wrong and I would like to change my drink to a mosquito (which was given to me at room temperature). During this time, about thirty minutes in our seating, our server finally came by to ask us what appetizer and salad we chose, the roasted ravioli or Calamari and either the house or the Italian salad. We chose Calamari and Italy. While we waited for our appetizers, we had to go back to the bar to order drinks, my husband asked for another Stella who was not cold and got a glass of ice to pour the beer. When our appetizers arrived, we served three pathetic pieces of Calamari on the top of the chopped salad. The Kalamari seemed to be out of a box and was still frozen. See photo. They resembled more of an onion ring that everything else. Our salad came into a bowl with our salad dressing in a plastic skirt like those you would get from Takeout. After I brought this food and with this kind of presentation, my husband and I decided to leave as the food and experience was not worth $80 PERSON. We expressed our dissatisfaction both to the sever and to the manager. Centro does not stand in any way for St. Augustine or what it is about in our picturesque city. None of what they post and/or advertise in their website is what you get in this facility.
