En route from Blayes to Pomerol needing lunch and came across this hippy busy resto just off the Route Nationalserving superb beefsteak and duck, best frites the world has seen, preceded by camembert/jambon cru, accompanied by a good vin ordinaire. All done in 45 minutes at around 30 euros each. Just right for busy travellers. Service was friendly and sure and all facilities spotless.
We had tapas as a starter shared between two which was very good, and the day special of grilled calamari salad, which was excellent. Including two glasses of wine each it was 70 euros for two people.
We were amazed by the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Even the owner came by our table to help us understand the menu and recommend a bottle of local Bordeaux. His recommendations were excellent. We started with some delicious small plates. Then 2 of us had the hamburger with foie gras. It was the most delicious burger I ever had. It was prepared perfectly with a large piece of foie gras on top. The entrecôte (similar to ribeye) was seasoned perfectly too. I am so glad we found this small restaurant!
