Always a long wait but the best fish I ever had and willing to wait for

I have visited this restaurant occasionally over the years and the first time I tried the whiting, I was hooked. This place doesn't get much traffic on Yelp, but I wanted to share my experience for 2021 in case someone looks them up. Everyone warns that you have to wait for your food, and it's true, but the food is worth the wait. If you're in a hurry, this might not be the best choice, but if you want the best whiting sandwich in town, this is the place to go. Not everything on the menu is top-notch, but they have a loyal customer base for a reason. I highly recommend their seafood dishes, grits, and breakfast options.

The porgies at this restaurant are fresh and well-seasoned, fried perfectly. They have been a staple on the menu for years. My spouse and I go every Friday and we always have a great time. The gentleman who takes your order is a comedian - he's funny and serious at the same time.

I decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews I had seen, but I was extremely disappointed. The place was terrible, from the atmosphere to the food. The man at the front had a strange and unsettling presence, making me feel like I was in a horror movie. The interior was dirty and looked like it hadn't been updated or cleaned since 1996, with a foul odor lingering in the air. The food was bland and tasteless, lacking any seasoning or flavor, and seemed to be just fried. I couldn't understand how they were still in business, especially considering the fake reviews I had read online. I ended up giving my food to a homeless person because I couldn't bear to finish it. I strongly recommend staying away from this awful place.
