Athens Market Taverna - S San Diego

We were stopping by to get a drink after a fire emergency at another restaurant where we went that day and and the lady at the door was extremely rude and judgy of how confused we were feeling. Being a San Diego resident I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Enjoyed our dinner here. I had the Greek salad, and my husband had the beef filet skewers. The service was outstanding, and our server was Sarah. We will definitely come back.

Such a wonderful hidden gem in downtown. The service was great and the lovely owner even stopped by our table to check on us. There was a large party in there and it was a little loud (which didn’t bother us) and the waiter offered to seat us somewhere quieter if needed, which I appreciated. Most definitely get the three dip combo to start. Easily the best hummus I’ve ever had and also really enjoyed the satziki and the melizanasalata. I had a Greek salad and added chicken souvlaki and my friend had a Caesar salad with salmon. We both raved about the proteins on our salads being perfectly flavored and cooked. I’m looking forward to going back and trying the many other delicious sounding dishes on the menu.

The most incredible staff and great food. So good to find a Restaurant downtown with a long legacy. The owner is incredible and so is the food. If you can’t make it to Greece.. make it here

Spanokipitaa was so good. Tasty. Dolmas grape leaves were light and full of flavor.
