Bidra med feedbackWas not expecting to find this restaurant today. The food overall was very good. As a native Puertorican I have to be honest in my review. The rice with pigeon peas is made with long grain rice instead of medium grain. The pork was well cooked but a little bland. It does come drenched in a garlic “mojito” and that helps. The yuca fritters were good and the ripe plantains too. Overall I give it a B which is not bad for being so far away from the islands.
Wow! Why isn’t this place packed for lunch? Maybe it’s because it’s Wednesday? Maybe because you can’t tell there is plenty of parking off-street and in the multiple parking lots attached to the shared businesses (in addition to the restaurant there is a market and banquet facility connected)? It can’t be the food because the food is outstanding, especially the new jibarito sandwich and the sweet fried plantains! The service was very good as well. The atmosphere was warm and convivial. We loved the lively background music even though we don’t know Spanish. Maybe the small number of patrons worked to our advantage because we had our server’s, (Jose’s) nearly undivided attention for a great meal, great service and great atmosphere.
So I 've been coming to this beautiful restaurant for some time now in the past few years and all I have to say is wow! This place is just stellar from the service, to the high quality selections one can make from their delicious menu that provides a large variety of different great tasting options that remind me of home. I 'm originally from Miami, Florida and this place definitely has my Seal of Approval as far as Cuban food goes ? Highly Recommend to those looking for an authentic cuisine that replicates what we have down in South Florida!
It was my first time trying Cuban food, and let me tell It was an amazing experience on the dish I ordered, Macitas de puerco. The meat was cooked to perfection and had some mojo plus white rice and black beans. I also asked what yuca con mojo was and the waiter brought us A sample for the 3of us. I was having the best experience in my mouth. My husband ordered the arroz con pollo and I did like it too; my daughter ordered torta cubana and I didn’t care too much for that. My plate was a big portion I had to bring home some of that delicious meat. There are some other Cuban places in San Diego, but prices are higher bit Andres is by far the best in flavor. It is not an elegant place but food is good, prices affordable better to other places that you pay for the look of the place . I recommend this place 100
