Bidra med feedbackThe Priory restaurant at Burythorpe house offered us a marvellous lunch in every respect. The food was excellently cooked and presented. My starter of treacle cured salmon with ginger dressing was refreshing and arranged beautifully on the plate with a type of rice cracker creation. Both our main courses were simple but cooked to perfection with fine attention to detail. I hope the chefs read this review. For dessert my partner had a sticky toffee pudding and said it was amazing, the best he had ever tested and I had a hard job keeping my hands off it, except mine was just as good a ginger cake with rhubarb and white chocolate. It's hard to explain the depth of flavour, but in the case of the ginger cake, it came from contrasting textures and colours. For example, the fresh stewed rhubarb was accompanied by pureed rhubarb dressing the balls of white chocolate and little pieces of dried rhubarb creating a chewie, nuttier background flavour. These guys really know what they are doing. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and offered perfect service. The interior is elegant and unpretentious country house style. From the dining room we looked out onto fields with a church just visible in the distance. We will definitely go again. This place is only about 10 minutes drive from Malton and offers a far superior dining experience to more local pubs and restaurants.
Visited here last night for the 2nd time. Hidden away but worth finding. Beautiful building that has been through extensive renovations recently. On arrival we were invited into the lounge. Very comfortable with roaring fire. There is a seasonal menu but I think on Fridays and Saturdays they also have a steak menu. I tried deep fried goats cheese and we both had rib-eye steak for a main. The dining room is very nice, wood panelled and very comfortable. The goat's cheese was wonderful with crispy breadcrumbs, Steaks were cooked perfectly, medium rare and very tender. They came with triple cooked chips, proper onion rings, mushrooms and vine tomatoes. Our meals arrived on a board but this was changed for a plate on request. My wife had an Eton mess which was also very nice. We went back to the lounge to have a relaxing coffee and a chat with fellow diners. Service was really good as was location etc. Really enjoyed our evening. Pity we had to drive home in snow. Should have stopped the night. Will definitely be back again soon. I am sure the steak menu will go down well.
Visiting on a quiet Monday evening to celebrate a friends birthday...we arrived to be shown into the sitting room witha blazing log fire. The menu was very tempting varied with lots of delicious dishes to choose from. The food was delicious beautifully presented ......quality outweighed quantity which is just as we like it. We thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful well balanced 3 course dinner at a really excellent good value price. We cannot wait for an excuse to visit again!
Yes, our third visit to Burythorpe House and the Priory Restaurant which still provides great food and service in lovely quiet surroundings. Can't wait for our next visit!
