Where to start. I love ACMEI recently went again and have been thinking about it ever since.
I love love love this place and it has now become one of my fav restaurants in Sydney! This restaurant had been on my radar for a while and I was really
My partner had wanted to try this place for a while so we finally made our way out. Despite our tardiness due to classic Saturday night Sydney traffic and the downpour of rain, we were welcomed graciously by the staff at Acme and seated at the bar (love this as this is where all the actions happens As it was the final month, we chose options from the “Crush Me” menu; an assortment of snacks and pastas. We got the OG Jatz, Fried Green Tomato, Roasted Carrots, BBQ octopus, Bucatini, Spaghetti, Macaroni and an additional Coconut Rice Cream dessert (excellent choice for those who are lactose intolerant). Definitely one of the best dining experiences I’ve had up to date. Big shoutout to Cam who made me a hot drink concoction after he heard me sick and coughing and “wouldn’t take no for an answer”. It’s a real shame that this place will be closed at the end of the month. If you can get a booking, get in quick before you miss out!
Acme is closing down for good by the end of June so we made sure to get in quick smart as a few of us hadn’t been here. We booked in and earliest time we could get in was but since we didn’t have much choice we took that time as sittings and the other much earlier and couldn’t make it. The menu offered was a set menu called crush me menu. It was split into parts and you had to choose as a table, one from section one (snacks), two from section two (vegetables), optional course of add on of truffle, one from section three (cold item), and three from section four (pastas). We chose the Baloney Sandwich. Literally what it was and nice slices of baloney in mini buns. Next was the Enoki, Cucumber, Sichuan which had shreds of cucumber and slivers of mushroom with a tasty dressing. Other option taken was Roasted Carrots, Ricotta, Almonds. Tender pieces of carrot mixed with almonds had a lovely flavour and texture to them. There was an optional Truffle Provolone Toastie and it was a real treat to have it. Can’t really beat truffle! One of the highlights of the meal was the Carpaccio ‘Halal Snack Pack’ with thin pieces of beef with a wonderful crisp potato barons and a tabouleh like topping. Meat was so tender and it was so yum. The balance of flavours was absolutely spot on. The pasta that was the most interesting was the Macaroni, Pigs Head, Egg Yolk which had nice pieces of macaroni mixed with succulent pork and a shiny egg yolk ready to be stirred into the pasta. Very tasty meal. The service was attentive and lovely however we did end up having a problem with the bill at the end which kind of soured our experience. Apparently we were given the wrong bill but they had already taken payment off us already and some of my friend had to fork over more cash. Definitely needed to get this sorted before having over a bill and receiving payment.
