Bidra med feedbackI stopped by this restaurant while exploring Rugby for a meal and was disappointed. The food was unappetizing and the service was average. The prices were too high for the quality of food offered. The restaurant's decor could use an update. Overall, I did not find it to be a good value for the money.
Met some friends here for lunch. We were the only table in the restaurant and yet the food took an age to arrive and when it did the burgers were over cooked and the Caesar salad looked like chicken from a can. They also got one of the orders wrong.
The food at this restaurant was delicious, with the main dish being particularly satisfying. The starter, which included 2 scallops for £11, was a bit small compared to other options like the salad or clams. The prices were on the higher side, but overall the food was enjoyable. We didn't try the recommended £50 gin or £25 steak, but I'm sure they would have been great too! The salmon, burger, and samosa were all delicious, but the mango relish was extremely spicy and too hot for one of the diners.
Only visited this restaurant as waiting for my flat tyre to be replaced at kwik fit and fancied roast dinner. On entering extremely disappointed looks like no money been spent on it for years. Rooms very dated and dark and looks like it was closed as not one person was in the bar and we were the only people in restaurant the whole of the lunch time period. Felt really awkward and nearly walked out as service was very slow despite being the only customers in there. Waitresses were very pleasant and helpful . Bathroom area had been redecorated to modern standard and were spotlessly clean. We ordered roast beef which was superb I must say , beef was tender and tasty, Yorkshire puddings were home made and very nice and came with four types of veg. Really could not fault meal much better than table table at clifton. Shame Rugby was so desolate this end apart from the lovely view of men slouching around outside opposite pub smoking and further down street. Really not good location anymore.
Positive: The food was quite good, and reasonably priced. We all chose the option of 3 courses for £17.50. Most of us had steak. I particularly enjoyed my dessert of cheese and biscuits, a huge portion and variety of cheese. Negative: It was a Saturday night. Our party of 13 were the only diners in the restaurant. There was a handful of people sitting in the bar, who also ordered food. On duty were a chef, a cook, 3 waiting staff and one bar staff. Like the last review, our service was also a little Fawlty Towers (but no swearing). On each of the 3 courses the waiting staff cocked it up, and brought out the wrong dish for at least 2 of us. We bought our first round of drinks at the bar when we arrived. Half way through the meal, we ordered another round. A waitress carefully wrote down our 13 orders. 3 of us got drinks that we hadn't ordered. I'm still trying to work out how that happened how staff can get it so wrong on a quiet night? We had 13 meals, but were billed for 14 meals, though at least they changed that when we brought it to their attention. The food was good, but the service was far and away the worst I have ever experienced, anywhere, ever.
