The food was really good but the attitude and manner in which the manager spoke to me was absolutely disgusting,I asked if there was a different table to sit at to eat our food because it felt a bit cramped and squeezed in,the managers words were “if I didn’t like it not to bother coming”this was said in front of other customers,which I found very unprofessional and rude

We pre-booked a table for a party of 10 for 2:30pm today as it was to celebrate our parents wedding anniversary and we got there 15 minutes early only to be told that because we were “late” our table had been given away to another party. It was poorly explained that the person who originally took our reservation over the phone must have booked us in for 2pm by mistake and we were classed as no shows and there was nothing they could do. I do understand that mistakes happen from time to time and businesses can’t afford to have no shows, but the attitude from the member of staff was appalling! We were obviously disappointed but the staff member just kind of shrugged and said that even if we’d have gotten there for 2pm it still wouldn’t have meant that a table was guaranteed anyway because it’s a busy time for them, which we weren’t made aware of at the time of booking otherwise we wouldn’t have even bothered. To add insult to injury, the table that should have been ours was still right there and completely empty and remained empty as we waited in the bar area for around 20 minutes whilst deciding what to do next, as like I said, this was supposed to be an anniversary meal and was supposed to be a special occasion. Upon seeing the table was still empty, we asked if we could just still have it? but was refused as it was now pre-booked for another party of 12, but surely that new booking wasn’t guaranteed for that party any more than ours was originally?! And we were right there waiting looking at the empty table!! They obviously didn’t want our custom and the attitude was that they didn’t really care anyway. My parents are victims of the October floods, they don’t even have a kitchen themselves at the moment and we thought taking them out for a meal on their special occasion would be a great way to treat them but instead, it put a real dampener on what should have been lovely time and celebration and we ended up back at my house with a takeaway instead. If could give this place 0 stars, I would.

Terrible mashed potatoes cold and had formed a slight crust, cauliflower cheese barely warm, green beans almost raw, carrots cold. Even the roast pots and parsnips were cold. Gravy was warm. Lots of meat in the portion that was the most positive thing. Needless to say we were disappointed and will not be returning

Food is average pub grub but don’t bother staying in the overnight accommodation: Airless bedroom that was stale and smelly Road noise with windows open Noise of other guests in corridors rooms Cheap, tasteless and charmless furniture fittings in bedroom Stained carpets and generally dirty feeling Outside fire escape access steps to the accommodation in the rain No breakfast

Went for the Sunday dinner it was fantastic meal and the price was fantastic for value I had the beef and pork it was so tasty and tender the veg was amazing and that mash was to die for so would highly recommend plus the chef that served the carvery is tasty to shame was not on the dessert menu.
