It's a fixed stage. Elegant environment, great food and attentive staff.
It is not my first time to this restaurant. The experience has alway been excellent and I always told to myself that I wanted other people to know how delicious it was but then .. I was lazy. Now, may be because it was a lunch and not a dinner, I have enough energies left for a review. I had two cherished guests I wanted to treat, therefore I decided to come here because of the excellent food but also for the perfect, and perfectly friendly, service. I wasn’t disappointed. We had a Dentice (snapper) prepared with zucchini flowers, a light pumpkin sauce and bottarga. It was heaven! all the ingredients, super fresh and perfectly balanced, made a delicious simphony. The grilled calamari was first marinated in a light sour sauce that was just perfect. Spaghetti and bottarga, with the sauce enhanced with grated and toasted bread were terrific. The roast brill, wrapped in a very thin layer of potato batter, was simply sublime. We did not have time for a dessert ! Pity!
This was our first visit to Eleonora d'Arborea and our only regret was that it was our last day in Rome and we couldn't return for another meal at this amazing Sardinian restaurant. Located in an outer neighborhood (you can take a bus from Piazza Venezia to within a couple of blocks of the restaurant), it is worth a journey, as Michelin says, to have some of the best fish and shellfish my husband and I ever had. We ate multiple starters and shared mains, too many to describe but from the crudos to tartares to fish soup to pastas, and raw clams and sea urchins, the menu is bountiful with choices. If you're not a fish eater, there are non seafood options and I can't imagine they'd give any less care to their steaks or chicken. But for those of us who do love the ocean's bounty, this place is a real treat. We found the restaurant to be welcoming and comfortable, the rooms are modern and bright in the best sense, the service is delightful and helpful if you need guidance on choices, and while not everyone speaks English, they do enough so that if you're not fluent in Italian, your meal won't be compromised. We live in New York City where there are great restaurants, I'm a culinary school grad and a food writer, and we've eaten in seafood restaurants around the world so we are experienced eaters. But this was a memorable meal. Prices are moderate and a fair value considering the quality of the exquisitely fresh fish, and the wine list has some excellent choices we drank a $30 Sardinian red (Naramae) that was a delicious surprise. I rarely write restaurant reviews. Eating is such a personal experience. But I couldn't let this special restaurant and the amazing meal we had go un shared. I can't wait to go back to Rome....
Not a huge space, but was quiet on my weekday evening. Very well laid out. Great service. With coperto I got a little sparkly, some appetizers and sweets at the end. My starter (swordfish and pecorino pie) and main (grilled calamari) were top. House wine very nice. 51 euro is a reasonable price for a place like this. Great food, I will return.
