For foodies visiting Rome, dining at Drift is a MUST. My husband and I lucked upon Drift in the neighborhood to the east of Villa Borghese where we were staying. They blew our socks off. I had one of the top 3 meals of my entire life. To start, the waiter pushed us in the direction of a Cabernet Sauvignon, I was hesitant but it was so unique we ended up drinking a whole bottle, rather than a glass each. It only got better from there, from the warm, salted focaccia bread, to the seafood soup, the pasta with lobster, and the octopus, each course was more incredible than the last. I wanted to return, so I tried to get reservations for New Year's Eve but they were closed. SO, we told them we would come back on December 30th and, when we showed up, they asked if the chef could custom make a multiple course meal just for us. They brought out course after course of inventive, fresh, brilliant food cooked with passion. When we could eat no more, they poured us their favorite after dinner drinks. The chef is a culinary genius, the waiter incredible, and the owners warm and welcoming. If you want pizza or lasagna, go somewhere else, if you want memorable fine dining at an elevated level at a small, charming restaurant run, don't walk, to Drift. You won't forget it.
Food! Spirits bikes! Top!
