Le Piano Gourmand - Rognes

We were searching for a different restaurant and stumbled on this gem. The staff and food were great and the portions were way more than expected. You cannot go wrong with this beautiful restaurant.

We arrived tired and hungry late on a weekday evening at our B&B outside Rognes, and our hostess recommended we go to Le Piano gourmand for dinner. We went right over and were surprised to find the place crowded and very lively, with a number of larger groups, everyone in a festive mood. This is a family-run establishment, and members of several generations were bustling about, attending to their many customers. Even though things were hectic, the owner took time to welcome us and get our order taken quickly. Later, he even gave us a tour of the restaurant and filled us in on some unique historical artifacts, including the fuselage of a small plane! The pizzas looked delicious, but we had seafood. The moules frites (the special of the day) and shrimp en brochette were both excellent. This friendly, fine restaurant was an unexpected find. Highly recommended.

I eat here a lot as it near my office. The staff are very warm, welcoming and friendly. they have the best home made fries in the region in my opinion. They need to have more choices on their menu though, especially for frequent customers who are tired of ordering the same meal everytime.

Great little place to eat in the limited places available in Rognes. Food good (even to the basic British pallet). Very friendly and accommodating. Good varying selection of food and drinks. Booking is recommended as was busy on a Tuesday evening.

So first day of holiday, 12h00 off the train at Aix, house not available until 16h00. Decide to get something to eat and then visit a village before going to the house. When we next look at our watches we are thinking about asking for the bill and it’s 15h50! We have spent more than three hours eating and talking. The service is good, the manager is efficient and friendly but intransigent in regard to health measures. The food is well prepared but the plus is that they have local produce too, andouillettes etc. The wine is all local. The decor is brass instruments hanging from the wall and enamel advertising boards from the past. Couples, family groups, friends and people on their own. We went back on our last evening.......
