Bidra med feedbackWe went to GPK on a rainy Saturday for a late lunch. I'd remembered GPK from its Ponsonby heyday when chicken, cranberry Brie/Camembert, Caesar salads, and penne pesto pasta were super (super) hip and cafe culture was the new black. GPK Albany is set in the old village in a block of other eateries and convenience stores a short distance from the more generic eating chains in Albany. They've had lots of practice so the service was friendly and as expected. They're known for their pizzas and so we ordered a couple of thin crusts (very good indeed) and yes, a chicken Caesar salad (nostalgically good, too). The atmosphere was a bit like the weather. Overall I enjoyed the food but if you're after somewhere with more of a vibe and better value (on the North Shore) I'd make the small trek to Takapuna.
Always been a fan of GPK regardless of what branch you go to. However I have to say this is one of my favourite places to dine on the shore. I've always been a massive fan of their meals. They are a good size and always super tasty. The only issue that I have with this place is the cost of drinks... probably a bit too steep. Nevertheless this is a great place to go for a birthday or anniversary as it has a true ambiance of a good restaurant. Maybe minus the white paper that they put on their tables... it's very Cobb n' Co to do that. Not nice. Worth a visit.
I came in to here for my brothers birthday, and I have to say we thought that it would be really good. We came here at 7 hopping to get a table in 15mins as it's not too busy, however we were seated 40 mins in and after ordering we waited another 40 mins to eat. We got the duck pizza and the blue cheese or some sort of cheese on it really killed the subtle taste of the duck. The lamb was really really good and I would suggest it : 3 stars for the time wait, it was really too long Note: don't order the pasta, the taste is really really blah
