Public House 29 - Rochester

Call me old school, but shouldn't staff know that people come to a restaurant to eat, not just sit around and watch people people? 35 minutes waiting in a so-so, sparsely populated restaurant trying to flag down a waitress for a menu wasn't worth the wait. Applebee's saved the evening. After 5 visits, We've decided that the juice just ain't worth the squeeze.

Had lunch here with several friends, the service was great, the food was salty for my taste and the price was about average for the area. I do recommend you give it a try I will be back to order something other than the Italian Beef, I heard the gumbo was very good.

It was very, very loud. You had to yell to talk with others at your table. I had the Shrimp and Grits. My friends said it was wonderful, I would love it. I didnt. I think it was Northern Shrimp and Grits. I was expecting Southern Shrimp and Grits! This dish had plain grits with boiled/broiled(? shrimp, onions, corn, and bacon. Once you ate the topping you, even if mixed, you were still left with bland grits. Northern take on the dish? I was expecting cheesy grits topped with blackened creole shrimp, at the least, with lots of spices. My peach margarita was also bland but did have a good deal of alcohol after I sent it back, as I let the rest of the table try it, to make sure it tasted bland and all agreed it tasted watered down.That being said, my husband liked his Shr I mo and Grits (he is from the North, so take it how you will , my friends thought their dishes, Shepherds Pie, Meatloaf, and Calzone, were excellent. I tried some of the Calzone, and I have to agree. I would go back, but I think I'll get something else, like Calzone and Jack and Coke.

It was pretty bad!! I ordered the Cajun dry rub chicken wings... Okay, I am fully aware that i ordered the dry rub version. That literally means they are flavored with seasoning instead of drowning in sauce. They should 've called them dehydrated jerkey wings, zero moisture. It was like trying to eat a piece of wood. Wwwwaaaaayy overcooked!!! Waste of money. The woman who took our order was clearly having a bad day seemed miserable. Never saw her smile. NOT a good experience. I was truly hoping to have good things to say about this place.

This place deserves no stars. It used to be great. Used to have great employees. Not anymore.Over an hour to wait for our food, food comes out overcooked. They take it and bring it back it’s cold, unseasoned. Disgusting. Tell the server and he said, idk what you want me to do about it…ummm tell your manager. Horrible.
