We visited this beautiful place on December 10th last year. I had been meaning to write a review for some time, but it slipped my mind until I stumbled upon a reminder. My son had heard about this place and suggested we stop by on our way from Montreal to Toronto. It truly is a special place. We arrived on a quiet day and initially thought it was closed, but the owner warmly welcomed us. We had brought along our two young dogs and didn't want to leave them in the car, so he found us a secluded spot at a table where they wouldn't bother anyone else. The restaurant is quite spacious, with ample room for large crowds during peak times. The rustic decor and snowy surroundings added to the charm of the place. They even have lodges available for overnight stays, creating a truly nostalgic atmosphere. Despite our unexpected visit, the owner served us a delicious lunch. I particularly enjoyed a homemade pumpkin soup that was simply delightful. After our meal, we were given a tour of the maple sugarhouse and shown how maple syrup is made. The process is steeped in tradition, passed down through generations of the family who has been doing it for many years. The owner patiently answered all our questions and shared stories about his father who oversees the business. It was a special experience, made even more so by the personalized service we received. Though I can't recall names, we saw many photos of the father who is clearly a prominent figure in the business. Before leaving, we stopped by the lovely gift shop where we purchased some maple syrup and other goodies. All in all, it was a delightful place to spend a few hours.
We were among the first customers allowed back after the lifting of restrictions. Although not all activities were available, we were delighted with our meal and, of course, purchased some of their authentic maple syrup products.
This restaurant offers a truly unique experience, showcasing the process of making maple syrup, serving up delicious traditional cuisine, and sharing the fascinating history of the owner and his family. A visit to this place is a must for anyone looking to immerse themselves in Canadian tradition and hospitality.
We had a fantastic experience at the Sucrerie De La Montagne! The property is so beautiful and idyllic. Everything about this sucrerie is done perfectly. Inside the dining room, it is meticulously decorated and you feel as though you are immersed in history. Tables are...also set up outside under lights which allow for physical distancing during these times. We were greeted by Winter the dog and were provided with a history of the sucrerie by the kind and welcoming owner. We bought a sugar pie, chocolate toffee and maple cookies in which we ate right away and were delicious. We also purchased some maple syrup and other gift items such as a stuffed dog for my daughter. I can only imagine how great of a venue the sucrerie would be for a wedding. Thank you again for such a wonderful afternoon.
