The Lounge And Grille - Richmond

The staff was very attentive and professional. Love them. They made sure we felt welcome by greeting us as soon as we walked in, allowing us to look around and choose where we wanted to sit, upstairs or down, and the made sure we wanted for nothing. We had coconut shrimp, that was seasoned to perfection, crab stuffed salmon and tender asparagus with a tasty ginger sauce, and perfectly cooked plantains. Everything was great except the noise level was high because the music, played by the live DJ, was turned up to party volume instead of casual conversation level. The music was excellent but I could not have a conversation with my companions easily.

First, it’s fantastic to have a place to get West African cuisine. I do wish there was an area for regular dining so that more people could comfortably enjoy something different! My Nigerian husband and I enjoyed the music but we’re apparently too old to appreciate the hookah and random girls twerking in corners. We really just wanted to enjoy the food so he could have a taste of home. Regardless, the staff were attentive and friendly and we enjoyed chatting with our server. The food had a nice familiarity to our visits to Nigeria, but some items seemed overpriced. I’m sure we’ll be back. I thought Sunday would be a safe bet for the environment but maybe we’ll try a Tuesday next time for an environment we are more comfortable in.

The food and drinks were absolutely delicious. If you go closer to the evening it transitions into more of a lounge/club atmosphere that’s extremely noisy. Overall great experience.

This is more of a club than a restaurant. Staff was friendly and laid back. Coconut shrimp was tasty, as were the wings. Cocktails were good, too.

This place is awesome! Stopped here while visiting Richmond. We were served excellent food, drinks and a great hookah. Thank you to Raje and Uniqueee. We will come back anytime we are in the area.
