Bidra med feedbackI have tried many veggie burgers before, and most of them taste like fancy falafels with a lot of chickpeas in them, which I am not a fan of. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious Beetroot and Mint burger from the Murica food stand. I also enjoyed their vegan hot dog on another occasion.
The only vegan option available at this restaurant is the vegan hot dog, as they do not offer any vegan burgers. I was disappointed since I had been craving a burger. The crispy garlic topping on the hot dog was a nice touch, but the overall dish was quite simple. I had hoped for more variety, such as vegan cheese sauce, vegan chili, or some kind of special sauce. There was also no relish available, which would have added an extra element to the dish. I felt that something was missing to make it truly special, as I could have easily made the same dish at home. However, my husband enjoyed the mac and cheese topping on his hot dog, even though it was not vegan. The owner of the restaurant is friendly, but the operating hours are not clearly posted, causing some confusion. We walked by the restaurant three times during the listed opening hours on Happy Cow, and found it closed. It seems that the owner only opens the restaurant when the weather is good, which is understandable given the unpredictable weather in Iceland, but it was still disappointing to make the trip there only to find it closed.
The veggie burger I had at this restaurant was unlike any I've ever tried before. It was like a glazed falafel with a variety of chickpeas mixed in. I'm not usually a fan of chickpea-based dishes, but I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the beetroot and mint burger was at Murica Food. I also tried one of their vegan hot dogs another time, and it was absolutely delicious.
The staff member working at the food stand was friendly, but we were disappointed to find that the hours of operation were not posted anywhere. We visited three times during the hours listed on Happy Cow, but the stand was closed each time. It seems that if the weather is bad, the owner decides not to open, which is understandable given the unpredictable island weather, but still disappointing for customers like us who make the effort to visit.
