Bidra med feedbackWe spent nearly a week here and it still didn't feel like we ran out of things to do (or beautiful scenery) very worth the long long drive out from Calgary. Bit too many moghuls by mid day but they were soft, powder moguls so can't really complain :D
There might not be many lifts but the lifts they have are extremely efficient, and services a huge amount of terrain. There's great tree skiing for all levels (check out the trees next to the Gnome Zone for beginner friendly trees). Recommend the Revelation Lodge for food much more spacious and comfortable than the Mackenzie Outpost. My only beef with the resort is that it's lousy with traverses, and the ski to snowboard ratio is quite high.
TLDR: Powder capital, best ski in Canada. There really isn’t anything to hate about Revelstoke. The snow is always in abundance, the powder soft fresh and silky smooth, the moguls soft, and the groomed trails are packed with a punch. Only downside is the lower mountain trails, especially the ones connecting the lower Stoke terminal to the Gondola mid-station and the base. These trails are always relatively to extremely unmaintained, and even if they say they are opened, they can have so much exposed grass and rock it appears ridiculous that anyone with common sense would still believe it is “open”. Besides that, the small mountain in addition to the remoteness of this mountain and its corresponding town allows for a fun, awesome, quiet, and line-free experience without the crowds of Lake Louise or Banff Sunshine. 12/10 would recommend.
This morning, there was heavy cloud cover in Revelstoke, and it looked like a very gray day. After a short ride on the gondola, I was pleasantly surprised to find a gorgeous bluebird day (see photos) and lots of good snow that was mostly packed powder. The bump runs were fairly gently carved, making for some excellent glade skiing on the double blacks. Days' end came too quickly, and I was sad to be skiing down The Last Spike. I had a nice beverage at the restaurant/bar and went back to my hotel feeling wonderful. I love this mountain and the town of Revelstoke for all it has to offer. Off to helicopter skiing for the next 5 days with CMH!!
Tough hill, would be good if they had some snow. But you can't always pick your days. They also have qr machines that print out your tickets so there are no long waits. It only takes about 10 seconds. I wish all the hills had this option.
