This is my "go to meal" for calorie control haha I know it sounds stupid hey.
As we were traveling extensively through many countries, hubby took it upon himself to sample KFC here and there to compare it to the American version. (Note: in Canada and Fiji there is a difference) The classic KFC served here was very much like what we were used to. The service was very good and congenial. We took our chicken outside under the covered dining area and enjoyed ourselves very much, finishing the meal off with mango cheesecake from the cheesecake store across the street. Let's face it - nobody gushes about KFC, but this was very good if it's your thing.
Took too long and food was a grease ball. this fast food option is bad for you, your children and should never be consumed
A trip to your local KFC is a bit like going home for dinner. That's not to suggest that my mother's house is decked out with the same decor and plastic chairs as a multi national fried chicken joint, I mean it in the context that you kind of know what you are going to get.At Mum's I know I'm going to get cupcakes, crumbed cutlets, lots of custard and plenty of trouble every time I put my feet on the coffee table. At KFC I know I'm going to get hot & spicy chicken, Pepsi Max, nuggets and a moist refresher towlette! But, not all KFC's are blessed with the same good ol' southern goodness that the dear Colonel intended. At some you get lumbered with soggy chips, 'Original' when you order 'Hot & Spicy', short dated coleslaw and of course the dreaded 'missing items in your drive thru order'.Well, let it be known far and wide that there is none of those shenanigans at KFC Capalaba. In the world of KFC it's a very good KFC with great consistency in their red and white boxed products. The chips are always good and crunchy. The chicken is fresh, the coleslaw tasty and the towlettes are as moist as... (insert appropriately amusing cliche here). The only thing wrong with KFC Capalaba comes to pass when you venture inside. Thumbs up that it's all new and funky - thumbs down that it is so god-damn cold!Seriously, it's like sub-zero in there. Colder than a fresh winter's morning in down town Ballarat or Goulburn (easily the world's coldest place). I'd hate to work there in this cold. It'd be awful. You'd end up sniffing more than a pro - footballer.Solution is easy though. If you are caught short in Capalaba without your winter woollies (easy mistake to make) stay in the car and hit the drive thru. 'Quality dining in the comfort and privacy of your own car. Heck, you could even rub it in to those shivering in on the inside and drive on thru in the nude!(just a thought on that, why can't any fast food places spell "through"? Do the people who make this wonderous decisions also look at their feet and see a "shu"? Do they climb a mountain to enjoy the "vu"? Do they go to the toilet and do a "Pu"?)All those unanswered questions aside, KFC Capalaba is indeed a good one. Well worth a visit if the mood takes you or if their TV ads convince you.I've no doubt that if Colonel Sanders was not busy cooking up his 11 secret herbs and spices in that great deep fryer in the sky he'd like it here. He'd like it almost as much as the present - day management of his Kentucky based chicken shop like hiding the word "FRIED"..
