Lokal Kitchen - Red Deer

My man and I have decided that this is our new favorite place. great burger! the chicken is tender and tasty! the salads are fresh and so delicious! if they have not been, they are missing!

One of the best Eastern brunettes I've ever had! that was great! everything was fresh and delicious. the apple cake should die!

My wife and I went here for a quick breakfast while in town. I had heard good things about the Sylvan Lake location so figured I would give the Red Deer location a try.It was disappointing to say the least... The service was very poor. It was a Saturday morning, but there were only 5 or 6 tables with small groups. The waitress spent a lot of time not doing much of anything and you could tell from body language that most other patrons in the restaurant were not happy with the service. The food (when it arrived) was cold and soggy. I ordered the bulgogi skillet (again - I had heard good things about the bulgogi) but it was bland and tasteless. I won't be back again and wouldn't recommend this place to anyone - at least for breakfast.

I stop in Lokal for a quick lunch. I order a steak sandwich. After 40min. I still haven't received my meal. I have a seat against a wall with a direct sightline to the kitchen. I see the waitress bring a meal to a table across the way. The two men start eating. Five minutes into their meal, the waitress comes back and takes away the man's meal. I watch her take it to the kitchen replate it and bring it out to me. So here I have a cold piece of beef with one piece cut off of it. I tell the waitress that I am not eating the meal. She knows she is busted. She takes the meal back. A minute goes by and a guy comes out, introduces himself as the manager. He comps me a free salad, topped with sliced beef FROM THE SAME piece of steak. I simply could not believe it. I call him on it as I watched the whole thing. He flat out denies everything. I only have one hour for lunch so I refuse the meal. He has the audacity to send a bill out with the waitress. I refuse to pay the bill and leave, hungry, perplexed, and dumbfounded. I couldn't even make this kind of story up.

The restaurant is well decorated and very clean. We tried the fried chicken as it had such great reviews on here. The reviews were right! Homemade fried chicken. Such a treat. Any other thing we've tried at the sylvan location has been great as well.
