The Botanist - Reading

This is my second time at the restaurant. The first time I was not aware that I could book through open table, but that’s because I was rarely using open table back then. I was reading some other reviews and I felt that they did not do this place justice, purely because I think they must have a snobby personality to fault the staff and service just cause they have no patience. Anyways, I am here to write my review and that is what I shall do. I really like this restaurant for its authenticity and difference in service. The menus provided a arrange of meats and dishes. They do Hot pots as well as Koreon BBQ. I took my friend here. I told her we will be cooking our own food, she was weary at first but really enjoyed it after having experienced Koreon BBq for the first time. I can’t wait to visit again. I will be recommending The Soju to all my friends and family and anyone I don’t know. Thanks again guys : Koko

Pretty poor. Was brought my main course less than a minute after ordering it as the chef had messed up another table’s order and they had a spare dish of what I had just ordered. We had ordered drinks and starters (neither of which had arrived) and having ordered just 60 seconds ago my wife didn’t have her food. Why on earth the thought I wanted this surplus dish is beyond men I rejected the dish however they left it at the kitchen pass for 20 minutes whilst we had our starters and then brought back me what I suspect was the same dish reheated. The rice at the bottom of the bowl was burnt due to being reheated. Overall the food was under seasoned and bland. It needed quite a bit of hot sauce to give it any real flavour. The kitchen looked chaotic and grubby so not somewhere I plan to revisit.

The food at this restaurant is fantastic, with the hanging kebabs and the sharing cookie dessert being standouts. The service was excellent and the venue itself is absolutely beautiful.

Did cocktail making experience with friends and it was really good fun, despite my initial concerns. Our staff member (Callum, thank you owner! was really chill and knowledgeable and made it really fun, great customer service. Afterwards we got cocktails and this was quick, good service and a really nice atmosphere. I do in retrospect worry though that the cocktail making might have been disruptive to others cos we were quite excited.
