Bidra med feedbackWhat a place! so friendly service, great eating and the best cocktails! I would recommend 10/10 to come out here for a wonderful night. huge tacos!
AWFUL!!! Bad service and sub par food. We dined in at 5:45 on a Friday and the restaurant was empty. A few people outside but not busy whatsoever. Still, the service was incredibly slow. Waited long periods of time on refills, food was slow even though the “free flowing kitchen” model of the restaurant makes it so that all food comes out whenever- I waited over 20 minutes for 2 tacos and my husband had already finished eating. Mind you, there’s practically no one in this restaurant at the time. Another frustrating issue was that we were NOT made aware that refills aren’t free. They charge you $3 per refill (from a tap btw) so we ended up paying nearly 20 dollars on soda, completely unaware because it wasn’t communicated to us- not to mention our last refill came when the check was dropped long after we had both finished eating. Aside from the slow and crumby service, the food wasn’t great and my tortillas weren’t cooked so they snapped in half upon picking up my two tacos- both of which were not even a quarter of the way filled. Upon leaving, our server was super pretentious and told us that the restaurant was super frustrating to work in because of how disorganized and inexperienced the young staff is- not what he was used to coming from a “fine dining background” despite the fact that he himself contributed to our negative experience. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this place!
Not really sure where some of the negative ratings are coming. Wife and I had wanted to go for awhile and finally got the chance. I came away very impressed. Got there a little before 6pm, so it wasn't busy yet. Sat at the bar and both the bartender and the chef were very nice. We got a few orders of tacos (al pastor, pescado and no pales), plus a quesadilla. All were top notch. It's a small thing, but the sour cream that came with the quesadilla was really good. Either my palette is juvenile, or they source good quality sour cream. As much as we liked the food, the drinks were even better. I had a few cocktails and my wife had a margarita. Mine were delicious and I'll definitely be back to get drinks. A couple had a nice tiki vibe to them, which I enjoyed.
This place is excellent! We sat at the bar, caught the live DJ buzz, watched Chef Buddy work his magic, and enjoyed cocktails from Josh and Todd. We ordered five dishes and really all were exceptionally tasty, beautifully presented, and delightfully out of the ordinary.12/10 will return!(Dishes sampled: flautas, sopes, chili con carne, arroz con pollo paella, and tres leches cake. Cocktails: Oaxaca Old Fashioned, traditional Old Fashioned.)The door situation was a little intimidating! But most of those people are actually waiting for The Merchant, upstairs. If you ask for the bar at Virgil's, you'll probably breeze right in!
We went to Virgil’s last night for a date night. It took at least 10 min before our server appeared. We ordered drinks and chips and queso. Chips came out fast and were really good, queso could have been hotter. It took another 15 min to get our drinks. We then ordered our entrees, that was another long while before only my Husband’s came out. We literally sat there for a good 10 min before our server came to check on us. I let her know that my Husband had his food but not me, it then took probably another 10 min to get my food. We ordered Carnitas and Barbacoa. Decent flavor but nothing amazing. You get a pile of meat and 3 corn tortillas. For that kind of service the food better be amazing!! This could be a cool spot but they need to step up their game!
