Virgile - Raleigh

Had a wonderful experience in bar virgile recently. visited durham on a work trip. we ventured into this situation not to know what to expect and were at the beginning of their food service. we had been able to drink all night and several appetizers (the fried oysters were so good). our service was beautiful and the music and atmosphere were fantastic. will do more than likely do more work in durham and this will have to stop one during each visit.

Absolutely delicious restaurant with a great, intimate atmosphere. bar virgile is a raised bar and restaurant perfect for a beautiful occasion. the cocktails were all lovely (I would recommend the seasonal tante ginny if it is available) and eating was amazing. the plates are perfect for sharing and were surprisingly generous with many of the portions. everything we had was cooked to perfection. the location is quite small and fills quickly, so they do not take reservations. they will be a little close to others, but this is still worth coming to every evening.

The annex is an absurd place. DJ is absolutely killing it and specialty cocktails are very interesting and mostly delicious. The dance floor isn't super crowded which leaves me ample room to get ziggy with it. Its always a party in the annex. Once I ordered a dirty martini and it as disgusting maybe thats a me problem.

Rating should be in between 4 and 5 stars. The servers were GREAT, even in costumes for Halloween which made it fun and festive. I loved the chai hour cocktail, by far my favorite and should mention I do not usually drink vodka. This is an excellent cocktail. I also tried the harvest sour but the pumpkin tasted raw, would probably be soooo much better if served warm or with less puree. I also ordered their mussels with fries. Overall a good dish, gotta love well cooked shoestring fries.

Oh my Lord delicious food. The menu is short, but delicious. I order local fish call Trout with a beet flavor risotto, it was a bit spice but I love it like that. The only thing I would say it was not as expected was the Moscow Mule drink, it was in a mojito glass and the tasty was unbalanced. Other than that this place deserve a 5stars.
