Bidra med feedbackNice view and friendly staff. Lemon seasoned pork stake was really one of the best I ever had. Tasty, juicy and delicious. Portion sizes are good, instead of gigantic like in many places. Had Sao Jorge cheese as a starter, it was ridiculously good with the jam they served. Omnom! Place is crowded so book a table in advance!
Bad service. The manager was extremely arrogant when i complained about the amount of squid in my squid sticker. He questioned it out loud while pointing to my plate saying that the dish is served like that. I'm Portuguese so i know that 1 sticker shouldn't be served with 7little pieces of 2cm x 2cm. I was never treated like that. He never apologised, instead, went to the kitchen and started closing the doors and windows very loud.
Fish was awesome. The rest was a bit chaotic depending on the day and the waiter we got. For sure locals get a different (better) treatment. But what it matters is the food, and it was fantastic.
We visited for dinner after a long day riding on the island... decoration is simple but stylish. Excellent music taste, I remember traditional Fado songs playing smoothly on the background..For starter we tried the clams: delicious. After we went for the tuna steak... very tasty and fresh! (although vegetables needed a few more minutes to cook properly)But the best was yet to come.. a divine nuts pie! This pie prepared in-house by one of the managers grandmother is the best dessert I had in many, many years! Is worth visiting if only for this treat! Friendly staff and warm and familiar atmosphere but in style. Good wine selection, and good wine advise... we ended up discovering a favorite white wine that was not even on the wine list - INVISIBLE! Overall a great night and a place to come back for sure.. Strongly recommend!
From the road there are several signs indicating the toad to the restaurant, so we followed them. The restaurant is located next to a cemetery, not such a good view :-(When we entered the place, there was a strange smell that dissipated when the airco was activated. As started some bread and local cheese. in the bread there were some very small black bugs... so we didn't eat it. The cheese was OK.The menu has almost no vegetarian dishes, most of it is Fish.We ordered a Fish of the day, some soup and french fries. The food is made correctly and tasted OK.The owner is friendly and helpful, however when locals enter the place... we became just "tourists".My advice, leave this restaurant for the locals, go a bit further to Ribera Grande where you will find Cais 20 or Alabote...
