Bidra med feedbackWe had 8 guests. The soups were good. Everyone enjoyed salads and rolls. Each main course was well received.... I know because I stare at a big table of empty plates!
Stay here. The food is under poor, it is basically the same with a small variation, depending on what you take. The place is not very clean and I fear to know what the kitchen would look like. The food gave my wife an annoyed stomach. I had general tao, and it was basically broken, and at the end of the meal I was served coffee that tasted like it was reheated for hours....
I hope Champa's owner will read this. First, if you think about eating there, knowing that the restaurant advertising as Cambodian Vietnamese Thai restaurant, but in reality it only serves the same vegetable and meat sow sauce in another sauce, and the sauces... we had on our dishes were similar in the taste of fish sauce soy sauce and hoisin, even tho they were various dishes on paper. Now for the details of our last night experience in Champa: I let Champa say we had a total bad experience and why, and all he said was he understood that I felt so, and good night. Here's what disapointing: 1-My friend called an hour in advance to make a reservation for 3 at 8:30 on a Thursday evening and was told we had a table ready on the window: we arrived on time and our table was not cleaned and we had to wait for it to be set. 2 we sat there for 10 minutes, without welcome. After 10 minutes we caught the attention of a server and asked for water and menu. 3 more 10 minutes before the water and wine glasses (it is a byob restaurant and we had 2 bottles on the table) and we ordered 3 table d'hôte 4- I ordered a grilled dish and when I got it my dish of bad seafood. My friends had beef and chicken and their dish was fine. 5- we haven't seen our server again. The restaurant empties when it was almost 11 and it closes around 11. When my friend called for the attention of the server (which was discussed with another employee until then) he was immediately informed that we could come to the counter and pay. My friend replied: We still have to get the coffee and the desert that are included in our meal, and you need to pick up our plates we're done with and maybe offer us a little more water to drink as you don't come, see us for an hour and a half. Then we get a bill and pay and disappear. At this point we were the only 3 customers in the restaurant. 6- the server came and apologized under his breath and took our plates. He did not say that I had not touched my Prawns, so when he asked if we wanted to pack the remains to go, I tried to mention that the yarns were not good, but he did not stay and only cleaned the table and brought us cookies and a coffee. No bill. The printer on the street was broken, so we didn't get the bill, but our server didn't mention that until we stood to pay. 7- we went to the counter to pay, and my friends were both polite and when it came to my turn, as the restaurant was otherwise empty, I wanted to politely mention on our server that our experience was not good and tell him why. He didn't apologize, didn't seem interested to listen, he said understood and good night. I was very disapointed in a low voice in an empty restaurant with my visit and the reaction of my server to the comments I offered politely. I was also a server, and so were my friends, and I know how I appreciated people what was wrong with their experience instead of leaving with a smile and giving a bad review later online. I'm not convinced that my comments didn't let him regret for our bad evening. I don't blame my server: it needs a team to run a restaurant and Champas team didn't deliver. I will recommend to everyone to avoid this restaurant.
The Tom yam soup was great! I had a pork dish with peppers, onions, celery, and it should come in a spicy sauce, but it was quite mild and forgotten. I think the best bet would be to ask for recommendations here. You were pretty busy, so I think the other menu options are better. The restaurant was busy with only one server, but he did a great job that stood the requirements of all his tables. He was very friendly and spoke English well.
It's a shame that this place will be closing in March... The food here is absolutely delicious.
