We started with the honey roasted oyster, a flavorful and aromatic dish that set the tone for a fantastic meal. The mussels in milk and cream soup were cooked to perfection, reminiscent of Belgian style, but with a unique twist. The snow crab fried with black bean and garlic was another standout, with tender and flavorful meat. However, the highlight of the meal was the innovative garoupa hot pot, where thin slices of fresh fish were cooked at the table and enjoyed with soy sauce and spring onions. This dish perfectly showcased the freshness and flavor of the fish without being intimidating to those not used to whole fish preparations. To end the meal, we enjoyed crispy rice noodles with fresh scallops, a traditional dish expertly prepared. Overall, my experience at Gourmet House was delightful and extraordinary. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for refined Chinese seafood dining, whether for a social gathering or business event. I look forward to returning to try more of their specialties in the future.
The service is average and the restaurant is very busy during peak times. This little suburban gem attracts people for three reasons - the delicious food, great quality, and affordable prices. They offer a variety of Cantonese dishes.

As a regular visitor to Sydney, I always find Chinese food there of decent and respectable quality though somewhat lacking in refinement, until I was recently introduced to this new establishment outside the tourist track but within easy reach of the vibrant Darling Harbour, whose exquisitiveness measures well up to the high standard of the dining city of Hong Kong.The simple decor of Gourmet House bears a nice blend of Chinese and Western cultures as one would find in the cuisine it serves, and you cannot miss the large fish tanks at the entrance with their eye-catching display of fresh catch of fish, lobsters, abalones, crabs, etc which the restaurant boasts.There is a good choice of both traditional Chinese and fusion dishes.We tried their signatory starter of honey roasted oyster which was as appealing in its aroma as it was tasteful to the palate. Our entree was a bowl of mussels in very generous portion boiled in soup somewhat like the Belgian style but in their special recipe of milk and cream which made it all the more appetising. We also tried their local snow crab fried with black bean and garlic, which was stunning in delivering meat that was tender but not raw. But the highlight must be their innovative dish of thin-sliced pieces of fresh garoupa prepared at the table in a hot pot, then eaten after dipping in soy sauce with spring onions. This brought out the distinguished flavour and freshness of the fish without alarming westerners who couldn't stand the sight of a whole fish steamed on a plate. The soup was then used to boil wanton and pak choi as a side dish to follow. We finished our dinner with the traditional crispy rice noodle skillfully fried with fresh scallops.It was altogether a delightful surprise and extraordinary dining experience which is highly commendable, particularly to gastronomers looking for fine Chinese seafood for social or buisiness gathering. We would certainly return on another occasion to try out other specialties that we did not have the capacity to consume this time.
