Auberge du Vieux Moulin 82240 Puylaroque

I thought the old fashioned country restaurants no longer existed in France. Incredible value for four courses including wine. Not much choice but something for everyone, excellently cooked. Waiter with a sense of humour!

I was glad I had made a reservation as the dining room was full on a grey late October day. Friendly welcome from the server who, while serving the whole restaurant and run off his feet, had a word for everyone and delivered each meal without delay or undue haste (so very impressed by the server). The lunchtime 13.50 menu was very copious and typical French country restaurant fare done well; soup, followed by a prepared plate of salad, charcuterie, mushrooms, beets and such. For mains, we had a choice of duck or fish the duck was a large portion of breast perfectly done, accompanied by fried potatoes (real potatoes) and string beans. I think the fish was a mix of fish and potatoes (spied on another table). Followed by cheese plate. Followed by choice of dessert, strawberry parfait, flan (very nice), baked alaska, floating island, apple tart. Served with 250ml wine. Coffee was 1 euro extra. I heard from friends that they always come here for Christmas day meal (maybe 35 euros, with lots of food well done). My companion was very pleased with the meal, too, and i will certainly return. However, I will need to exercise a bit more caution, as am a bit too full....

Me and my partner went to this restaurant as he wanted to treat me to a birthday meal while in France I have to say it was stunning , amazing beautiful restaurant , the service was amazing , the guy was French and obviously us being English , but he understood us and managed a joke or 2 with us The food was home made and so tasty It was quickly served and consisted of 7 courses all home made and tasted so so good The price for all of this with half bottle of wine , was extremely good , fair and worth every penny Will definately be back , as it's so good
