Bidra med feedbackThis busy little restaurant served us a very nice lunch. It was our first time trying sopes and I’m hooked. We had ours topped with delicious pork. Tacos were also good filled with beans and panela cheese. The fruit water was very refreshing. Great prices. Worth a try.
We had a very late lunch, about 4:15. No wait at that time, but small menu became smaller. They were out of shrimp. The lunch menu is fajitas, fajitas, or fajitas. Meal comes with soup, beans and rice, a tiny salad, flan and agua fresca. All delicious. The agua fresca of the day was cantelope. So good, so refreshing, I had seconds. The cost of that meal was almost embarrassingly small. Seventy pesos. Cash only.
I had a business lunch here and it was great. They have a limited Comida Corrida (lunch) menu that has soup, salad, an entre and a desert. Great food for a small price and it was out in a couple of minutes. And it is literally right across from the Guadalupe Church.
We came here because the NYTimes just recommended it last month. It operates on three different menus, breakfast, lunch and dinner. We got there at 1PM for the special lunch mentioned in the article but they weren't ready and would only serve us from the breakfast menu. I ordered tacos, one came along with sauces that were much too hot for my palette. My husband ordered the posole soup. Didn't know it at the time but it's a thin soup with big homony chunks and some vegetables. We left hungry. This is for the locals only but because the NYT recommended it, it was packed with tourists. Interesting one time only experience.
We found this place a couple years ago, on the recommendation of a friend who lives in PV. It is right across a small street from the cathedral, in a small brick building. Bustling in a quiet way, and $5 gets you a three course lunch, and dessert, and some barley drink. A handful of entrees to choose from, all 3 of our different choices were very, very good. Good service, so convenient a location. Cozy and an oasis on a hot, humid shopping day. Can't recommend it highly enough. Happy to see it's listed everywhere now, they deserve the success. A couple years ago you couldn't even look them up online. Now they're even in Fodor's. They don't take plastic, though, come with cash.
