Roots Ocean Prime - Princeton

Absolute top notch steak house for the area. i’m very impressed with this place and it stands up to most New York steak houses. The crab cocktail and lobster bites are incredible. And the steaks are done perfectly. Service is old-school with tons of hospitality. Prices are pretty typical of a place at this caliber so nothing to say good or bad there. Will come back a lot. Ambiance was intimate, classy evening dinner. Highly recommend the calamari and crab cakes for an appetizer, the slab of bacon with scallops and shrimp on top! The wine selection is vast. We were in town visiting on a business trip. Our executive took us here for dinner. My husband's favorite steakhouse is Maple Ash so we're not strangers to fancy restaurants. Roots did not disappoint. The obvious perk is that they're located on the Princeton campus, but that's only the beginning. Everything from their ambience to their staff was top notch. The presentation, quality of food and flavor was on point. Most of us ordered a steak, while myself and my peer ordered fish. I got the salmon and he ordered the halibut. So delicious. Everyone raved about the sides, especially the au gratin potatoes and lobster macaroni and cheese. The seafood tower and shrimp cocktail for apps were DELICIOUS. From beginning to end, everything was wonderful. Definitely recommend and will return when we're in town next time!!

Having a meal here has been alright and having a variety of the meals were delicious the dishes I do recommend depends on the preference. Enjoy all of everything now. Amazing restaurant in my hometown. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very nice dining experience. First time here. Had to park in the garage near the Wawa and then a short 5 minute walk, unfortunately for me it was in the rain. There is closer street parking available but good luck finding a spot during dinner. The food was very good. We were seated by the bar which seemed a little cramped. I'm sure the main dining area is nicer. Tried the beef Wellington and chicken parm. Chicken was very good, and the bw was good but had me wanting for more steak after. I will have to try the filet next time. Overall it was very good and i will definitely visit again.
