Trick is Booking a table, I randomly go and they're not open, but don't let that dissuade you!Vietnamese Food is Fresh, Vietnamese Food is refreshing, and Thanh Vu is flawless when it comes to their presentation. It's a restaurant you don't look at the prices, you order anything you like, over-indulge, treat yourself, impress your company, visit amongst yourselves, and with uncontrollable anticipation = everyone's patience is rewarded with glorious spectacular tasting food ! So explosive in the textures to flavoursome delicacies ratio, you always leave sated, and Happy ! Thank you Thank Vu! Many Lifelong Blessings to you and yours !
With our little guy at a sleepover and having some shopping to get done, we stopped in at Thanh Vu for an early dinner. We arrived around 5pm to an empty restaurant and got a booth on the main floor. The restaurant itself was perfectly clean and maintained, the large wall mural added some atmosphere and even the bathrooms were clean and orderly. The menu was quite foreign to my partner and the variety of vegetarian options for me left us looking at our choices for a while. In the meantime we ordered their Vietnamese iced coffee and veg spring roll for an appetizer. The service was polite and the beverages and appy were out quickly. Both were delicious, the coffee was rich and refreshing and the spring roll was perfectly crispy and flavourful, although too hot to eat when it landed. I went for a red curry with tofu which they modified for me, deep frying the tofu first so it would have some crunch, and my partner went with a oyster sauced beef. Patrons filtered in or grabbed their pick-up orders (no delivery unfortunately) and by the time we left the eatery was getting busy. The entrees were fantastic. My red curry was textured and saucy, the vegetables not wilty and the tofu sucked up the flavour. Best bite I'd had in PG for quite a while. My partner was unsure of her dish having little experience with ethnic food, but soon found it to her liking. Both meals were plentiful and my partner had enough to take home, finishing it all later. I left my bowl empty. For dessert we had fried pineapple and ice cream, also quite tasty. We left full and satisfied and knowing we would be back. The server got a tip that we felt was deserved. Give Thanh Vu a try if you're passing through or a resident of PG, it's worth the visit.
The spring rolls here are delicious deep fried goodness, served with a lovely orange (Vietnamese) dipping sauce. Definitely the best appetizer on the menu! I would recommended the spring rolls, the brochette dishes (comes with those spring rolls
We have always looked forward to a getaway to Thanh Vu. The relaxing atmosphere and authentic Thai food was like a little visit to Thailand. I am wondering what has happened to the standard set by Thanh and Vu? The food quality is not what it was, there was a tacky, lop-sided open sign on the door, and I was shocked by the crudeness and lack of professionalism in the judgement of whoever suggested the new t-shirts for the waitresses! What decent-minded person is going to appreciate "what the Pho" in their face every time they see the server? She was kind enough to explain that the correct pronunciation is fuh. Well, thank you for the clarification. we wouldn't want to get it wrong! I am SO disappointed! I may go back one more time to see if anything has changed, and if the old Thanh Vu is gone for good I will go into mourning.
