Bidra med feedbackI have never written a yelp review before but i absolutely had to for this place. Yesterday, i was supposed to have an event there and signed a contract and 3 hours before the event was to begin and 600 of my guests would arrive the owner Sammy said he was canceling the event because we were gangmembers and he felt unsafe and uncomfortable letting minories in his establishment. he said his policy is they do not allow rap music because of the type of crowd it attracts. This is discrimination and unprofessional to cancel a contract 3 hours before my event and for the reasons he presented. there were no music provisions in the contract. Additionally, i work for Nike Inc and i am not a gangmember or in any way working or bringing in people that are u safe. I am a young professional and have never dealt with anything like this before. Do no support a place like this and an owner like this. He is racist!
I'm going to start out by saying, I love Trio. My wife and I have been going here for years, she even had her bachelorette party there. The staff is really nice, even the security guys. Their manager has always been ready with a last minute table if we wanted one. The rest of this review is meant to be constructive. I must say that the last couple times we've been, it's been a little wanting. It seems like the DJs are getting tired or something. The transitions are lazy and off beat. Going from bachata, to rap and then throw an EDM build to go to reggaeton. At one point I heard an El Taxi Gasolina mashup. If you're trying to dance, it's a little hard to stay in the groove. My wife and I each had 4 cocktails at $11.50 each, so over $100 with tips. Normally we'll only have a couple, we're not big drinkers but we like to loosen up a bit. I gotta tell you, normally 4 drinks would put me on my ass. Not at Trio. We drove home at 1:30 feeling just fine. The cover was $25, each. That's almost Las Vegas cover. Pacha charges $25, for guys and if Ladies aren't free, they're $10. $25 for a club like trio is a bit much. Now, based on the fact that we were there last night, and it was mostly packed, I don't expect much will change. Why invest more in booze, and lowering your cover only to have the same customers. I'm a fan of Trio, and I like going there. If I'm going to spend $150 in three hours, I'd like to have good music I can dance to, good drinks, and over all good value for my money. This just felt like it could have been so much better.
We had our money refunded and this is why: the person at the door charged us (brown people) a $10 (each) cover charge at 9 pm. Our white friend came in 15 minutes later and was charged $5. We (brown people) were served $12 drinks without any alcohol. We complained to the manager after being told by the front door person that our white friend asked for a discount upon entering their establishment.(not true) The manager explained to us brown people that the front door person asked us to pay $10 because she was confused as to how much to charge us and upon learning she should charge $5, she began to do so which coincided with our white friend's entrance. So, don't patronize this place. Go to AZTEC WILLIE'S instead. (That's where we went and spent the rest of money) Aztec Willies is accepting of all. Thank you very much.
I was invited to come here by a friend but made sure to get there before 11pm so I could get in free. I have a few friends that didn't make it in until after the 11pm and were charged about $15 for women and $25 for men. What in the world!? This place isn't even downtown. The cover was a bit ridiculous. The club itself is pretty cool. Kind of doesn't feel like it fits in in Portland but there's always room for different styles of entertainment. I liked that they have two dance floors and a karaoke area that is sound proof from the dance floors. I honestly will not come back to this place due to the over-priced cover (and drinks) and have to take stars off for my friends that experienced racism and transphobia by employees of this club.
Overall very stupid; did they not look around and see the vibe of the neighborhood/city before they started building? People who gush about how 'Vegas ' this bar is should just move somewhere like Vegas, bc Portland doesn 't want that. Idiotic that they charge a cover in addition to VERY overpriced and weak drinks. The touchscreen for karaoke is hard to use. And they keep sports coats for the dudes? They seriously have a dress code? I mean, it makes me laugh, but it 's not like I 'm ever returning. I wish this place would hurry up and go out of business. Unfortunately, it might just be a money laundering op so we 'll be stuck with that eyesore forever.
